When your life turns upside down in a blink of an eye and is life changing - for the positive

As I have read, digestive issues are an avarage aspie's life and I am no exception.

Around two week's ago, I got a colicky sensation in my right shoulder, but antiflammatry drugs took that away, then last wednesday, I had just visited the toilet and then, had the most embarrassing accident and could not figure out why, since I did not experience a tummy ache. And, then, the next day - a thursday, I had a small lunch and then, the "music started". I developed this colicky ache all over my tummy and no tablets touched it ( so unusual as my body works with medication). I vomited a couple of times and thought it was just the dreadful ache all over my tummy area. I soon recognised that this ache was nothing I had experienced before. Hubby just said it will go and not panic, so I tried to be calm, but knew something was not right. He said that if I am just as bad the next day, he would take me to get looked at.

It was around 3 in the morning that with shame, I had to wake hubby up, as the ache had intensified. He phoned the dr and was told he really should take me to the hospital. Now, my anxiety would go out the window, but I cried out to my God, Jehovah and all anxiety left me.

I was put on a stretcher on arriving at the hospital, quite quick and then my clothes were removed and a hospital gown put on me and it was my tension elevated that caused them to react pretty fast. I had a dr come to see me and he said that he felt it was my GALLBLADDER and I was sent for xrays. I was put on a drip and pain relievers. The verdict came back that actually it looked like I was constipated! Then I was sent for another in depth scan and the operated said: yes, it is your gallbladder and you will discuss it more with the surgeon! What? Excuse me? He said that it had to be removed.

The surgeon came to see me and said that he wanted to operate on me monday and it would be key hole surgery. I was in a daze ( absolutely no panic though). I just didn't want to be operated on!

It was a friend who said to me: you know that the gallbladder can cause acid issues? Hmm no, I did not know this? For YEARS I had been told that my digestive system is in a dire way and so, for years, have suffered agonising acid reflux. 3 teeth removed, due to acid erosion.

I agreed to have my gallbladder removed and even when I was being wheeled to the operating theatre, my anxiety was no where in sight. I had started to get anxious about going under, but Jehovah topped me up with holy spirit and they were amazed at how unfaised I was lol

Before I went in, I had agonizing acid reflux and was given gaviscon to calm it down, with did for a while. After I woke and was more with it, ABSOLUTELY NO ACID and this has continued.

I do have indigestion, but also read that proton pumps meds are actually better than gaviscon and so, I took one of my omeprazol and immediately felt relief and they have never acted so fast before.

So, it was my gallbladder that the acid bile was coming from all these years. I had gallstones that got stuck in my cystic duct, which was causing the horrors and was told I would have not survived for much longer, because it would have affected my other organs.

I ate a sandwich that my husband made for me and for the first time, since my 20's, no acid reflux. Hot and cold drinks do cause indigestion and it is not nice, but I have better control than the horrible acid.

I have often read that a hiatus hernia actually does not cause much pain: only when the stomach slides up the hiatus, do you feel indigeston and just rubbing between the chest, does actually calm the pain down.

I'm so grateful it wasn't cancer,I was born with a small hernia but it seemed to heal .
Praying for healing of your indigestion

Could you in turn pray that my anxiety will stop they are letting off fireworks all night the cat is terrified and is sitting in a cardboard box at the back door the other cat that lives outside and won't come in the house must be also terrified

I am truly sorry that you are experiencing these things. Hoping for the best @Suzanne. The good news about gallbladder surgery is that it is minimally invasive and technology is to the point that it is usually done on an outpatient basis. I had mine removed in February of 2002. While it was minimally invasive using small incisions, I still required a hospital stay.

As a lover of cats myself, that would make me very angry!

I am so happy for you!! I am so glad you shared that your faith helped you with all of it and how God took away your anxiety. :) You are strong and you are a great witness. Recover well!!! :) God be with you. :)

Thank you so much for your words. I am gradually recovering, but have very little appetite and so, suffering huge bouts of hypoglacemia attacks, which is so demoralising, but the plus side, does seem to be that I have lost a bit of weight, which pleases me enormously and the acid is no were to be seen; indigestion? Yes, but my proton pomp is vastly more effective than before the operation.

Thank you Okrad and also for saying I am a great witness. Touches my heart.

Try puréed soups, what your body is doing is trying to do is protect you from infection ,it's also been injured by a surgeon ,try gelatine ,I've never tried it but people make Orange juice flavoured jelly by melting gelatin with orange juice ,it sounds delicious ,I've also got acid problems as mine does not stay in my stomach anymore and travels all the way through my GI tract I take a medicine like you for acid and tums as the anxiety attacks make gas that won't be released without an antacid.
I was wondering what is happening to you but if usual the panic attacks suck any socialisation out of me , add to the fact I am worried about the cats ,worried does not describe it.

Have you ever had your gallbladder looked at? Because since mine was removed, absolutely no acid. Gone has me waking up gasping for breath, because of acid.

I still take omeprazol for heartburn but not every day and they work better than before the operation and actually are less distructive than antiacides.

I know it's from the staphylococcus infection damaged most of my organs and muscles I will never go back to the NHS they treat me like a leper

You want to get to France, before the Brexit and see if they will treat you here. I am being treated very well with this operation. A nurse comes in every day and injects my leg, to stop blood clots and it is all paid by our relativily inexpensive health insurance ( mutuelle).

I have an distended tummy since I put weight on, in my early 20's ( prozac) and have tried to eat well, but that tummy over ever went down a fraction and got it's biggest 9 month's ago! My tummy is finally going down and it was all related to a bad gallbladder!

I don't the think NHS would help me to be a health tourist ,that's what they call you if you go to another country for operations, they say everything is anxiety.
I look permanently pregnant on every square inch of my torso I know where the gallbladder is,I don't get pain in that area,I only get that in the colon If I have a really bad anxiety attack or I've eaten too much sugar or too much fat .
That is my own doing which is come from the staphylococcus infection and the typical refeeding syndrome which is basically eating too much when your stomach is too small and the resulting consequences.

look permanently pregnant

I used to be asked if I am pregnant and to hide my distress ( because that is what I wanted more than anything), I would say: I wish; it is just "good old fat", which would leave the person feeling embarrassed, but in truth, I did not care.

My husband gave me just one half of a jacket potato yesterday, but I did not know this, until after. I just about ate, what I thought was one potato cut in to two, which had cream cheese on one and walnut cheese on the other. Very tasty, but only just managed to finish it and was shocked when my husband said he had only given me half and cut that into two.

That is how much my apetite has diminished and this girl is not complaining lol especially since I have lost 4inches around my waist, since last monday.

Be careful you're losing weight too quickly, that's what did the damage with me ,if you can't eat solid food get meal replacement drinks.
You've got to eat more !are you having enough fluid?that is what is causing my problem I don't drink enough
Don't end up like me .

I am eating solids and liquids. I believe what happened, started when I was a child of 8 or 9, when I was rushed to hospital, with extreme constipation, which I know believe started me on the road to IBS and all due horrific parenting.

I actually believe that my gallbladder malfunctioned when I was a child and steadily got worse and going on prozac added to the issues.

I think that my natural waist is a size 10. If my abdomen was related to obesity, then, indeed, it would be an issue; but I suspect it is distended due to the gallbladder and at last, reducing.

The only thing I cannot consume is high fats. I am ok with butter and bread. My husband has made huge pots of vegetable soups.

I do not sense I am losing weight too fast. It is like a baloon that has been inflated and you stick a pin in and it deflates; that is what I feel is happening to me.

As it happens and most distressed, hubby is saying he cannot see much of a change!:( How can one not see a change, from a 46 waist to a 39 waist and that is according to my tape measure?!

Oh he says that my thighs have lost a bit of weight, because they are not as cuddly as they were before

He is just going to have to get used to a slim wife lol

thats men for you has the distension in your abdomen come up in the last few days?
If you're still in the hospital hopefully they are monitoring you I'm glad you're having fluids
Be Careful to have at least 2 L of water a day you need the magnesium from it ,wish I could drink enough but it's shattering going backwards and forwards to the tap ,no one to support me.

I left hospital last thursday and getting better and better. Today, I got up and am staying up, so each day has been a progression.

I cannot stomach that much water, but do drink coffee and what they refer to as tisan in France, which is an infusion of herbes. My coffee, coffee lovers would say is a disgrace lol as I only have a few grains and a little honey.
