Trying to cancel accounts on GoDaddy.com, help!

Just been on with their tech support online chat, I have the account details for both my accounts, minus the passwords, they sent links to change the passwords on both accounts, and now the damn passwords don't work! I know that all passwords are case sensitive that's not the problem, and I use simple passwords that I can remember easily.

Has anyone on here done Business with GoDaddy.com for hosting on domain names and are you able to help me sort out this problem?

Inbox me or contact me by email (which is in my profile, I'm not posting it, I get enough spam as it is, mostly from Porn sites for some reason).

Are you sure the problem isn't with your username ?

They do have instructions on retrieving both usernames and passwords:

Reset your GoDaddy password | Account Management - GoDaddy Help US

Forgot your username to log in to GoDaddy? | Account Management - GoDaddy Help US

And once you sort it all out, learn to write down a much better password in line with more current security concerns.

One that is at least ten characters of upper/lower case letters and numbers. You'd be shocked at how easily these days one can break into a password-sensitive environment when the password is just a few characters...whether a word or not.

The username is my customer number or email address, both of which I knew, as I use my Gmail account for everything except Xbox Live.

Simple deduction then. Go to the GoDaddy link that retrieves lost passwords. Follow the directions, or just call customer service back and explain to them what happened.

I did, 3 times.

And the customer number did not work, I mean yeah OK the first time I copied it wrong, but I corrected it and it still didn't work.

I will ring them up next week, it's a London number though, smh.

I just went on the site, and removed both my payment methods from my account, my debit card and Paypal account, so if they can't take any money from me the accounts will be cancelled automatically hopefully.

Go daddy suck. I wouldn't use them for anything.

Sounds like you ok now though.

As long as Auto renew is off you should be good, and transfer any domains somewhere decent.

Do you have any, preferably UK based recommendations?

Well Google has failed me, I found some web hosts but they're not actually completely free.

And I'm loath to try and use my old Geocities website again because there's only 15 Mb of web space.

You get what you pay for with web hosts.

I dont know who to recommend in the UK. I'd check the webmaster forums.

Maybe lowendbox.com might have stuff on shared hosting, not sure.

Look for UK based servers. Most of the big US ones are rubbish.

Prioritise support quality over everything else. support is hard and expensive and the first thing to suffer.
