Thoughts about being an Aspie and music

I've recently started listening to Daft Punk and I enjoy their music a lot.

The words of "Within" resonates strongly with my experiences of ASD and being an Aspie.

"
There are so many things that I don't understand
There's a world within in me that I cannot explain
Many rooms to explore but the doors look the same
I am lost I can't even remember my name
I've been for sometime, looking for someone
I need to know now, please tell me who I am
I've been for sometime, looking for someone
I need to know now, please tell me who I am
There are so many things that I don't understand
There's a world within me that I cannot explain
Many rooms to explore but the doors look the same
(Where are the locks to the key)
I am lost I can't even remember my name
(And I wondered why) "

Is this just me or do other Auties/Aspies feel a connection like this ?

Yes somewhat, I wonder if it's partly because our different brains are not understood so there's no guidance or maps for us? We have been brought up with NT norms but these don't fit how we are. It's hard to have an identity if the identity isn't already in the world, there's no categories that fit, so how can I categorise myself? This may be helped by us writing / creating more about who we are? - songs poems films artwork cartoons novels stories ...

I'm pretty sure all people who listen to music, feel a deep connection through a relatable theme in one song or another. If you look at pop music for example the lyrics are designed to appeal to large demographics. This is true for most music but especially pop. Most lyrics are also open to interpretation so...
random example...
Korn - Freak on a leash

Something takes a part of me
Something lost and never seen
Every time I start to believe
Something's raped and taken from me from me
Life's gotta always be messing with me (You wanna see the light)
Can't they chill and let me be free (So do I)
Can't I take away all this pain (You wanna see the light)
I try to every night, all in vain, in vain

Something - vague
Something lost. everyone has lost something.
The ol "Maybe i can do it! oh, nope." Delusion that there are no failures on the road to success.
"Life" messes with everyone.
Everyone wants to be free and not in stressful environments.
Everyone has pain.
The struggles that everyone faces through repeated failures.

If someones struggling with cancer, the lost of a loved one, literally anything that has caused them pain they would feel like this song speaks to them.
"Hey! i have pain! I tried things and failed! I lost something!"

This is one part of many that makes music successful.

So no worries it's not just you :)

That doesn't mean all with pain will like this particular song (although 100's of millions do) that was just an example but this practice is pervasive in the industry heck it IS the industry. Doesn't take long to find a fit for whatever you're going through.
