Thinking about Mining one day.

Not sure what. But probably for fun and side cash.
Sometime I get away from running an exploration crew by panning for gold. Sometime I would find enough to pay for the fuel it took to drive there.

Both sides of my family were miners, Coal in WVa, nickel ore in Sudbury Ontario. When they took up other occupations they never looked back.
 
I know a bunch of people who got into it. For some it almost got like gambling - they became addicted to it, especially when trying to recoup losses.
