I like this article. Everyone with AS is different. Some have trouble with empathy; some feel it too much.
Have problems with that too as I don't know how I feel either. Both parts seem to be lacking.Also, you don't have to know what others are feeling to be empathetic. Someone can tell you what they are feeling, and you can hone in on that. I've taught myself to do that better over the years.
