My question is, how can you tell when you’re getting better like when you feel more like yourself instead of feeling numb, you feel feelings basically as you know and if you do feel like you're getting better, how do you take your next steps?
How do you go with the flow and ride with your feelings?

Just a note I am on a medication that was increased twice or three times possibly this is the time increase there now from 100 to 150 mg
After telling the doctor, it gave me sleep paralysis the last time it was increased to 200 mg what usually is what he increases it to if it feels like it needs increasing now I asked him if there was any other medicine and he said maybe we can increase it to 150 instead of 200 so I agreed

I needed an increase or a different medicine for some reason the reason being that I would take my medication at 8 o'clock at night and go to sleep and mostly wake up in the middle of the night and he felt it was best for me to stay up till like 10 10:30 instead of going to bed because I'm not sure but make me an has to do with me growing up or I maybe I need time for the medicine to process I don't really know

If you're curious, the medicine is quetiapine brand-name Seroquel
Oh, I am on propanol 40 mg to prevent migraines these rather than seven working pretty well in at least what I think and propanol especially I know occasionally I get very bad headaches still but it's not nearly as bad as it was, and I am seeing a neurologist matter fact, I'm going to see him on this coming week and I'm not sure if I mentioned this before 40 mg of famodine which is generic for Pepsid that is for my gastroparesis. I take it twice a day. The other two I just take a night.

The issue now is that whenever I'm not in a structured routine type place like my day, habitation, or recreation programs, I have trouble self regulating but before I can even think about self regulating, I tend to sleep a lot especially getting tired in the afternoon or waking up in the morning then taking my medicine taking a shower and then falling back asleep shortly after

with feelings, maybe I feel that I am exhaustion from the many different programs. I am trying out although I do like everything I'm doing and not too much of a stressor. It's just that I'm also learning how to take responsibility for things like cleaning up and selecting clothes or donation and things like that with my community has worker as well we also do the laundry from the laundry mat and the machines as often as we can before it overflows

My grandmother is still around. She is 94 currently and she is still sharp but her physical strength skills aren't as they used to be kind of because she doesn't really make full on meals too much anymore because she doesn't really eat a lot maybe because recently she lost her teeth out they fell out while she was throwing up and she had said to get new teeth in soon and you got any issues with that what the place is the sopped to to help her with her teeth and insurance

Anyways, she most likely will get back to cooking meals like she usually does and if not, will probably help me learn or have someone help me learn I currently make TV dinners, premade burgers, and I can also make macaroni and cheese and spaghetti although the meatballs are difficult. I can't do that yet. She does it

I used to be able to make pancakes and pancake mix but I'm still working on that one. Don't worry now we are fine and we do eat stuff. It's just that's another topic but we eat enough

I know that this came in to just random ideas I that I was thinking if you have any comments or suggestions, please let me know. Thanks.

Hi Jen,

Your question isn’t really easy to answer. It feels like it should be, but it isn’t. I’ve been down in to some very deep dark places in my life, but every time the circumstances were different both descending in and coming back out afterwards.

I keep getting a lot of little signs that I’m starting to come good again, but I don’t trust them yet. Sometimes the good feelings don’t last for very long. There’s many different signs that are good for me, no single one holds any more weight than the others. When I will start to trust that I really am back on the upswing is when more and more of these signs start happening together. And more frequently.

This sounds backwards to most people, but then that’s the story of my life, a good sign for me is when I feel like drinking a couple of beers. This is something I only do when I’m happy.

Another sign is how often I go outside. For a couple of years I only went out once a fortnight to buy more tobacco. If I could get that delivered as well I wouldn’t have gone out at all. Now I’ve just gone out 3 times in 2 days, twice to the shops and once just for fun, to play with my new camera.

I have noticed that I’m starting to take more interest in stuff I see on the net, more things make me curious and I’m looking a lot more stuff up and reading about it.

The ultimate sign of being on the mend for me is when I’m keeping my house clean, this means I’m in a mental state where I’m prepared to have visitors again.

Great to see your grandmother, she has been such a great influence for you. My grandmother was sort of my mother. I still miss her dearly.

Hope you are able to get the meds working for you. Sometimes you do change the amount or you change the meds completely. But you are on top of that. Nice to hear from you and you are taking on a lot of responsibilities. Good for you.

Hi Jen. We haven't heard from you for a long time. I for one missed your bubbly personality and enthusiasm. Don't worry about feeling like your old self, because, except for a few remnants, she doesn't exist any more. You are constantly changing, especially at your age. What you want is to feel like you want to feel. When you have a zest for life, when the world is exciting and wondrous again. NOT what some medication is telling you how to feel.

Others may disagree, and feel free to do so. Just my own opinion.

Hi thank you
I am been to several mental hospital, and every time I go to one they always mess with my medication it’s been around four years since I’ve been in a mental hospital
I don’t like the fact that I have to be on medication but I am seeing the consequences that happened when it is messed around with or not given

Back in January I was given this generic for Seroquel and my grandmother got mistaken, and she wouldn’t let me take any of my other medications because she thought that was the only one I should be taking this is the only time she can go on a little off, not senile or anything like that, but just not being a good frame of mind

we somehow couldn’t connect with my doctor for the longest time and he was very frustrated with me. When I finally was able to access him and I told him I didn’t take it. I think he believed when I said about my grandmother he put me back on the medicine and I felt much better. Not Being able to reachmmy doctor was strange is that never happened before

I don’t know which path to help with my medication without getting loopy or into psychosis anything like that

I mean, I never really lost in zest for life at least I don’t think so I still, and always have pretty much loved the fact that we are born on this earth, and we all together, and we can get together to have fun and help people

The main thing is nobody really knew too much about the truth about my abuse whole in my first hospital as you must’ve heard by now, first, because I wasn’t explaining it in a way that was the best terminology second because when they called me from the investigation, I was in a different hospital one for children away rehabilitative care needs like that with the word, serious illnesses and situations who need physical, occupational, and other types of therapy some of these people have cerebral palsy others brain injury, for example when I was in this hospital, they tried to blame it. The investigators I don’t know if they intentionally did but they kept asking me. Are you sure I wasn’t in this hospital and I got furious because I knew it wasn’t down in the world taking the most wonderful care of me at that time. I tried to explain to live in in the mental hospital, not a hospital like this before we hung up on what’s going to tell my story, but I guess it didn’t have enough time

What happened was I was in the shower and they were helping me take a shower and suddenly the showerhead fell from above and it was metal. The nurse helped me quickly out of the way of the showerhead and herself being hurt by it to save my life.

anyway

my main problem is I want to do a bunch of things and I feel like I am motivated it’s just my physical strength and my mental energy is severely impaired. I miss my life and it’s not necessarily fully because I want to go back to it. I just Wish I had a similar opportunity to the ones I have now. I mean I do have some great opportunities. for example, my monthly advocacy meaning. And being on the quality control committee and being on the Board of Directors even if it is only a volunteer job I’ve been wanting something similar to this for a while
my issue that I am coming across the only one that’s a barrier for now besides exhaustion, randomly and wide spread muscle pain like I mentioned earlier grasp information and be able to hold onto it long enough to analyze it and be able to write about it for my presentations. I’m concerned about running out of ideas I guess that’s what I really mean
And when I do things, I need people to explain steps to me on how exactly do in order to have some energy and help me When I have no physical energy

oh, and I forgot to mention that originally I was fine but needing help concentrating and I was on it for a while, and it really helped untill the situation happened then I couldn’t be back on it sometimes. I think I should’ve never taken any medicine besides, maybe if I need to get my seizure medicine in the first place
what was the reason I was on my psychiatrist in the first place for help with ADHD symptoms and also how many get my states service for developmental disabilities

I have a lot of clients taking Seroquel. In my experience it is given to people with severe behavior problems. It can make you feel numb and sleepy during the day, even if you take it only at night.

I am familiar with the scenario of people going in to hospitals and coming out with changes in medication. Sometimes for the better. Sometimes not so good.

You don’t mention why the doctor prescribed it, or increased it. What symptoms was he trying to treat?

The propanolol can make you feel sleepy, but your dose is low so that shouldn’t be the problem.

I know I’m feeling my like myself when I start singing and humming to myself. When I get tears when sad. When I delight in a flower Or a cheeky bird.

Jen the sad fact is that for many Medecins there are also a nr of possible different side effects (not at all that uncommon to get drowsy etc... ). So, the best you can do is let the docs that prescribes these medicines to you know about them so that they then can try to adjust the dozes and or different medicines and treatments. And above all DONT give up Jen im proud of you and you are indeed an inspiration to me in how you refuse to give up and keep on fighting in life regarding the poor odds same as me.

Hi, Jen.

I've had almost the same situation and I still struggle with it. The most concerning symptoms of me being overly stressed and depressed isn't feeling hopeless and sad, but the lack of energy and physical inability to do the most basic stuff needed to function in our society. Sleeplessness during the day is a huge pain. I'm slowly recovering from depression - I no longer feel that immense anhedonia and I have a certain goal in life, but I have to get at least 9 hours of sleep...

Recently, I've noticed some improvement in my overall wellbeing. Two weeks ago, I transferred from high school which has very toxic atmosphere in it. Even though I have to get up way earlier now to avoid being late, I'm more motivated. I'm still fighting to make this world a better place.

So, for me the environment was the biggest factor. I'm on 20mg of Prozac and take Propranolol once in a while for panic attacks. I know Seroquel is responsible for being chronically tired. Please consult your doctor about the prescribed medicine, sometimes it takes a long time to regulate the doses and in result - get as little side effects as possible, while the pills are still effective.

If the doc refuses to listen to your suggestions, do your health a favor and seek another specialist. Ableists treat us like we have no right to speak for ourselves, which is horrible.

I am somewhat worried though my Seroquel is taken for , I believe for psychotic thoughts I’m not exactly sure because he said thoughts and I think that’s what he meant It’s also taken for sleep

Anyway, I feel like this medication has been one of the best ones in a while. I’m doing things I haven’t been doing in years.

I don’t know I haven’t been nothing really caffeine at all lately so a healthy amount might help. Especially with the migraines.

I will ask because I’ve been on this medicine before and it’s like maybe it’s just that I’ve only been taking it for about a month with the increase in dose
In fact, it’s been good at least to my knowledge.

I will keep all your thoughts in mind and definitely will speak to my doctor about the tiredness, and my suggestion that I think might help it if not, trying to lower the dose or whatever is best to make me feel better or if I need a new medication

You enjoy. And try to memorize the feeling because it might not last forever, there'll be bumpy moments. And then you remember this good feeling and it doesn't help make the bad feeling go away, but it helps getting over it.

Quetiapine can mess up with you badly, I've seen people go from "feeling off" to hit emotional rock bottom or become zombies after taking it. But I think there are conditions where it does help, and make people feel better. Unfortunately it's being widely used to treat depression and anxiety even in mild cases.
