Is it a battery (or electricity) ?
Moves the hands on a clock.
Lights up a lamp or flashlight.
From your other thread, I remember Macgyver had a potato battery in his houseboat, and I see that tomatoes can do the same thing.
At first I kept thinking the sun. Fits everything else, makes your hands want to move and shield your eyes, and ends up in tomatoes and potatoes as they grow. But it doesn't exactly HELP light shine near me, it IS the light.
I used to carry duct tape, a Swiss army knife , and a paper clip most of the time. Due to the MacGyver quote where he said "never leave home without it" referring to duct tape, I would hide a small piece of duct tape inside the pocket on my Bible cover when we went to church and I had to wear a dress (therefore didn't have the pants pockets for carrying the flattened roll of tape in) just so if anyone ever asked me about my duct tape I could quote "never leave home without it.)BTW MacGyver was my hero as a kid. I even tried for his haircut.
