Just curious as to who else works remotely?

This is my remote rig I use in my travel trailer. I'm camping next to a lake today.

Nice! I’m an IT guy and I sometimes work remotely. I will remote into a customer’s system if it is more convenient than visiting them in person or have them drop their stuff off in person, or if they’re in another part of the country. I don’t get to do it from a nice location though, just my desk in my house. Although, I guess I could take a laptop to a nice scenic location a few miles away and remote in from there!

I wanted to do remote work before, but it's not practical considering that an actual computer is not allowed in the house. Also, we can't afford it now with fewer income sources in the household. I thought I might become a graphic designer or something, but that was mostly back when I still had my retail job.

"Remote work" has a different meaning in Australia. It means you work in a remote place where you have to fly in and fly out of the workplace because there's no road access or because it's simply too far away from anywhere to drive to work every day. Most remote workers work for 2 weeks straight then have 1 week off.

Nice setup!

I do work at home sometimes but not often. So much of my work is clinical and requires me being physically present.

I've been working remote (from my home) for a significant part of my carrier. My current job has taken it to a new level, as I've been working for the company for +2 year and never met anyone working there irl - I'm very happy with that setup :)

I’m trying to work remotely from now on. I took a hard right turn and signed up for a medical coding course. Hopefully, one year from now I will be setting up my home office with a new job. In the meantime, I carved out a humble corner in my parents’ home for studying.

Remote work has made a huge difference in my quality of life. Yes, I can interact with others, but it's so draining. The masking especially. I can get through a workday without being too exhausted for anything else when working remotely.

I have been working remotely for over a decade. I love it. I don't have to be around people all day. My cat has a bed on my desk and we can look out the window at the bird feeder. My dog has never been left alone all day. I can walk all day on my treadmill while I work and nobody cares. It is ideal for me.

This is exactly what I am hoping for. Reading y’all’s experiences really makes it seem possible.

My dog convinced me to take the leap and make it happen.

May I ask what a medical coding course is?

My nephew has worked remotely from home since the pandemic. Oddly enough his corporate finance employer has no intention of sending him or most other employees back to an office.

Not only a game changer, but a life changer. Especially if you have a travel trailer and Starlink.

Pets are smart and should be listened to more often in matters other than immediate feeding. LOL.
👍 ✅ 🌈
(I like, agree with, and feel optimistic about your post.)

I will be become trained and then certified to be a professional medical coder. The job will entail translating notes about diagnoses, services and equipment that patients receive into standardized codes for billing.
