Recommendations for facial sun protection skincare product

I have very light skin with many moles, so I should take care to wear sun protection whenever I go outside.

However, I greatly struggle with finding a suitable product for my face. I hate the feeling of product on my face, which is also why I almost never wear make-up. The biggest problem with daily sunscreen for me is that I wear glasses, and whichever type of face cream with SPF I wear, it ends up making blotches on my glasses, which I then have in my view, and if I am at work or just out of my home, I can't clean my glasses to remove them. Those blotches then bother me very much and distract me. I only clean my glasses with water and soap, and dry them with a dry towel, because in my experience all sorts of cleaning products and pre-packed cleaning towels leave marks and stripes on my glasses, and only the water-soap-dry towel method leaves them 100% transparent with no traces.

I usually wear sunscreen on my face with no big problems when I don't wear my glasses, so the blotches on my glasses are really the most important thing preventing it. I don't want to switch to contacts, though, because I like how my glasses look on me, I like being able to just put them on and remove them, and I would be certain that contacts would end up being a struggle and cause irritation to my eyes, because I already have dryer eyes that tend to get irritated.

I tried many times to just stick it out, reminding myself that I just need to do this now to prevent skin cancer later. But since it is a daily struggle, I often can't bring myself to do it.

To people with sensitive skin, discomfort with product on your skin, and glasses (if there are any here): What kind of sun protection face product do you use, which doesn't feel weird and which doesn't leave traces on your glasses?

I use Korean brands, they have a lot of variety and a lot of them of them have a very light texture. Missha had a sun protection gel i used which had an almost watery texture.

My mom also hates using sun screen since she has the same issue as you, and even she could use that.

I use mostly dermocosmetics, as most skin care cause me irritation, allergoes and ace. I think I've never had problems with any of the dermocosmetic brands. Also a moistruiser with SPF 30 is a good choice. Of course it's best to try the product first if there is a tester in the pharmacy in order to see if you like the texture, smell etc.

I live in a country that has the highest rate of skin cancer on the planet and sun protection is a big issue here.

The two best protections that come before using sunblock are:

A broad brimmed hat
A long sleeved shirt.

Schools here have a No Hat No Play policy, if your kid doesn't have a hat they're not allowed outside during breaks to play with the other kids.

It's difficult to find a sunscreen for face that won't irritate the eyes. I have liked this one, it has been least irritating of those that I've tried, but I haven't tried very many different ones. There are also sunscrean sticks for face (in the shape of lipstick for easier applying), but I haven't tried yet if they irritate less, or rather run down to the eyes less.

And I agree with the hat use, broad hats are a good shade for face. And of course big wide sunglasses.

There is a Nivea product sold in Japan that is water based. It works quite well for this. It's available on Amazon. Search for "NIVEA SUN Protect Super Water Gel".

Blue Lizard, an Australian product. I put it on my face and top of my hands and wear protective clothing everywhere else. It doesn't irritate my face, and I have sensitive skin, too.

Thanks for all the recommendations.

That's a very good policy. I try to wear a hat in the summer as much as possible. It's a bit tricky to combine it with my headphones, though.

I have very fair skin.

How light is my skin?

Cosmetic companies don't usually make foundation light enough. Ivory foundation and powder makes me look like I have a bronze suntan.

I am also a ginger. Lots of freckles. Very sensitive skin. Prone to eczema and psoriasis.

To say that I have sensitive skin would be an understatement.

I have to use sunscreen. But I am highly allergic to conventional sunscreen ingredients.

So I use Alba Botanica Mineral Sunscreen in SPF 45. It is all natural, and protects my skin even better than conventional products at SPF 100 have.

I apply once in the morning, even on the hottest days, and I don't have to reapply, or worry about sunburn.

It starts out thick, but rubs in clear, completely disappearing into your skin. It moisturizes without being greasy. And it's so nourishing to my sensitive skin.

I highly suggest Alba Botanica Mineral Sunscreen. Here is a photo from the internet of what I use.

Even though it doesn't contain those awful chemicals that most sunscreens do, it is endorsed by the Skin Cancer Foundation. Which is pretty cool.

What do you use to treat the eczema? I get it on my hands every winter it seems. I'm having trouble getting it to go away this year.
Hypericum oil, also known as St John's Wort infused oil works best.

Grapeseed oil works miracles.

Both of the aforementioned oils are non greasy, absorbing like lotion into skin. And you only need a few drops. I like to apply it right after bathing to my hands, face, decolatage, nape of neck, and the tips of my hair.

A lotion I really like is Aveeno. Or any oatmeal infused lotion.

There is a really good knock off product to Aveeno that I buy at dollar tree. I think it actually works better than Aveeno. It's called Eczema relief. I use that daily.

To prevent psoriasis and eczema, I bathe with One With Nature: Chamomille Sulfur Shea Soap. Sulfur really soothes dry cracked skin and the soap is like butter on the skin. It smells like chamomille tea. But if you can't take sulfa drugs, you might be allergic to this soap.

If my skin is very sensitive, I will also dissolve 2 cups of 20 Mule Team Borax into the bath water. Boron is an essential trace mineral. It's so soothing. And it makes the soap bubbles foam up like bubble bath.

My skin becomes soft like a baby's. The curls in my hair release, and the borax gently conditions and protects my hair. By the time I get out of the bath, my eczema and psoriasis is soothed, not so red. The patches are moisturized. Borax is so lovely.

NOTE: Borax is NOT the same as Boric Acid. DO NOT use Boric Acid.

For really bad flare up after being out in biting wind, I'll put on some hydrocortisone cream.

I also try to wear gloves as often as possible in the cold, which keeps my hands from getting cracked and sore.

Not sure if it's a similar thing or not, when I first started printing and had my hands in chemicals all day I had similar sorts of problems. I tried seeing doctors and tried all the different commercial creams and they were all useless. Then the lady that was training me told me what does work:

50/50 lemon juice and glycerine.

Put them in an empty soft drink bottle with a small hole pushed through the lid so you can shake out just a couple of drops at a time, a little bit goes a really long way. Just rub that in to your hands a couple of times a day. The lemon juice opens up the pores of your skin and lets the glycerine in, the glycerine is like a fertilizer for the new layers growing underneath so you end up with thicker, healthier and more resilient skin.

Store it in a dark place (cupboard) so that it doesn't turn a yucky brown colour, it'll still work fine but it looks ugly.

Thank you for the info but I'm a little nervous to try that one because citrus fruit juice on my hands usually dries them out really bad.
