Mashed only if they have little potato pieces, completely mash is too mushy and I don't like mushy textures except hummus but you eat that with chips which are crunchy and you don't feel the mushy-ness much

(This applies to refried beans with corn chips as well)

I liked potatoes baked and boiled. I like eating the skin on the former, but it’s hard on my stomach now (not the skin on red potatoes so much - I usually use them peeled). I used to not like mashed potatoes, but I do now.

Speaking from before my stomach problems started, I like potatoes all kinds of ways. I’ve always liked French fries and potato chips. Tater tots and hash browns are good, too, as are fried potato skins. Mashed potatoes are particularly good with gravy. We’ve also always made latkes (potato pancakes) for Chanukah.

Indian curries made with potatoes are particularly good. Also good is aloo paratha, which is bread stuffed with potatoes - and dosas, which are like crepes stuffed with potatoes.

I do know that every family Thanksgiving, my mother obsessively polices how much mashed potatoes I eat. She judges me blatantly for wanting to eat more mashed potatoes than whatever she is willing to let me consume, even though Thanksgiving is usually the only time of the year I eat mashed potatoes to begin with.

Mashed potatoes are particularly good in my opinion.

I like most things potato related. I am iffy with tater tots. But homemade fries, homemade chips, hashbrowns, mashed, etc. I love all those.

Whenever we have excess mashed potatoes, my Uncle will make latkes. They are very delicious.

I like potatoes or at least tolerate them as long as they are not mashed. I have never liked mashed potatoes, they are often too lumpy and stick in my throat Although I do like pierogi, which normally have a mashed potato and cheese mixture filling that is smooth and very comforting. Years ago I once made homemade potato pancakes/latkes with a big batch of leftover mashed potato after finding a recipe in a magazine and they were very good, but a lot of work because I also had to grate several raw potatoes. I didn't need to peel them, though. But scrubbing them clean is hard, too.

I live in Eastern Canada where for decades the traditional way to home cook potatoes is to boil them until they're mush. Which is blech.

Poutine with gravy is different.
I admit to being turned off by what I've seen of Poutine in pictures and videos, especially when I found out that it's served luke warm at best, or even cold.

Chips and Gravy is a very old English staple that became incredibly popular in Australia, and it's served hot enough to blister your skin if you're not careful. After growing up on this I don't think I could ever force myself to try Poutine.

I love fish and chips and I want to have some of that in my belly right now, with the malt vinegar of course. And a non alcoholic ale on the side.
