I'm shocked by this. I'm not shocked that some nuns and priests look at porn. By "some", I'm assuming the number would be extremely small in relation to the number of religious. However, would Pope Francis tell nuns and priests to "cool it" on watching porn if it was only an extremely small number of them relatively speaking? It seems doubtful. That leads me then to think that the number is fairly significant. If so, I find that a bit shocking, disappointing and also a further erosion of trust likely among many Catholics who are already on shaky ground with their view of the church due to the monstrous, worldwide, pervasive sexual abuse scandals.

I have a reference in my notes to a St. Louis Archbishop who said "I didn't know sex with children was a crime." At first I thought he was being disingenous, but on further reflection; no - he said it because sexual abuse of children is in fact so normative within the Catholic church that he literally didn't know it was wrong. I don't think that's explicitly a Catholic problem, either.

Bible also warns that another church of devil will rise, we can't say it's specifically Catholic, it may be watered down Christianity that better aligns with diceiving people about what is actually sin, if one is religious?
Societies dogma created way for non-believers to conform, is it actually not better for non-believers to just simply leave church at free will. Hence, I disagree with preaching gospel anymore, only to those who are interested.

I have just seen this very old post and checked the BBC website that it was a legitimate article.
I don't know what the proportion of this was, but all people are not immune to sin and temptation. You have to resist this to become stronger against temptation if you want to.
I am living a single conscreated life and have taken vows of spiritual union to the church. I don't do these sort of things, but am not here to start judging others.
Is this not better though that some wary ones on the edges turning to underage children and women and men and bring another hurt to the church. I think that may be over stated to in reports and may be a vice of the devil. This is though better than hurting another as you are doing this to yourself. Abuse is never right, but all religious people in the main do not do it. May be to step down if some wanted they could gaze at the material and then not view it and step down if they wanted or stay like this to they were ready to do more.

Some monasteries as well the time is very structured and they do not allow much television and like an hour or entertainment use around in the evening. I doubt the numbers will be large for pornography.

If want to change try and may be take the Pope's advice.

And another point about devil is the mockery when he takes over others work, the flaunting and taunting to lure others into conflict, it's really deception and control embedded in the lies.
