people talking to me

I have tried to look 'neuroptypical' while people have been chatting to me and forgot information people have said to me, don't know if anyone else can relate. It's easier sometimes although it's about the person whether or not they are disabled or not

Don't try to "look" neurotypical. It can't be done. Trying to behave neurotypical is another matter, but usually more effort than it is worth. Concentrate on what they are saying, assuming it is worth hearing. Most of the time it is not. Don't worry about remembering what they said. Your brain cells can be put to better use. As for me, I never forget a face or conversation-----for about 30 seconds. After that, it might as well never have happened. Sometimes I forget who I am talking to and what they have said during the conversation. It does not bother me a bit.

So sad, but l check out of conversations pretty fast. l just don't care. I don't have a social need to meet you unless l am at work. Then l am concentrating on my customer so that my boss fills me for the next shift. My shelf life is limited and l am working in twilight age now.

I really can't think of a neurotypical look. They range from gazing intently and seriously to can't focus on me because they are constantly fiddling with their smartphone.

A lot of NT stuff isn't intended to be remembered. It is all small talk. I hate small talk with a passion usually reserved for mass murders and mayonaise on my bread.

Humans are social creatures, and small talk is a way to get to know one another, which helps us work together. That's how the human race has survived and thrived amidst animals that are much bigger, faster, and stronger than we are. It's also why companies may do mandatory team-building activities.

But then some of us are wired in a way that makes small talk completely uninteresting, or just extremely difficult.

Happens to me all the time. Then I start to act a bit ASD by rocking my legs or twisting my arms. Does not matter people I hang out with don't judge me as all.
