Basing a strategy on the information in these two links:

http://mentalhealthdaily.com/2015/0...spectrum-disorder-asd-an-effective-treatment/

http://mentalhealthdaily.com/2014/0...ves-frequencies-gamma-beta-alpha-theta-delta/

Please note that these links discuss our brain structures as "abnormal." I strongly disagree with this terminology, because there are ways our brains work better, which would make NTs the "abnormal" ones. :) However, the rest of the article about neurofeedback is informative and useful, which is why I used it.

And using this Brainwaves app on my iPad:

http://www.banzailabs.com/brainwaveapps.html

I am going to experiment on myself. A neurofeedback training program, which can turn into a learned response, so eventually I would not need the programs anymore; that my brain will more easily manage its own state without external help.

Research seems to indicate that we often have a problem shifting mental states: moving into Delta for sleeping, and moving out of Delta in the morning, for instance. We're like a brain inertia drive: whatever we are doing, we want to keep doing it. This is great when we are interested in something and want to think about it; when left alone our concentration is an asset.

But most of us have a life with external demands, where we have to change mental gears more often than we would like. So I am using the main Brainwaves app, which has programs like Morning Coffee (a forty minute wake up/switch to Alpha & Beta) and Deep Sleep (a ten minute take me to Delta) at the beginnings and ends of my day.

I have been using Stress Reduction and Relieve Anxiety when I come home from work, and I do feel some benefit. But I am ramping it up into a deliberate program of seeing if I can mange my stress better, my borderline-crippling exhaustion and edge-of-breakdown mood problems, a midlife Aspie meltdown problem, with a more structured approach to managing what my brain is doing.

Since my diagnosis, I have been realizing that medical science offers me, the adult Aspie who never knew she had it, veryveryvery little in the way of help. I am fortunate; as long as I can hang onto my job, I have health insurance which will pay for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and a weighted blanket, both of which have helped. But that's IT. They won't pay for massage therapy, they would pay for drugs but drugs don't work for me, and at least there are playgrounds here where I can use the swings.

Perhaps other places have more organized and knowledgable places which can help, but at this point, I know more about Asperger's than anyone in a three hours driving radius.

I have to figure this out with what I have available.
