Hi, I'm new here and looking for support and friendship from fellow aspies. I am 28, married with a step daughter. I'm looking for support with anxiety and panic attacks because as I'm getting older or atleast thats how it seems i seem to be getting worse on that front and things that didn't worry or bother me growing up now are effecting me and family life. It really gets me down and that doesn't help the anxiety or panic.

Hello jdtute85, welcome to AspieCentral. Anxiety is a recurring theme here, so you will find understanding and support from people who really know what it feels like.

I too find that things are getting harder in some respects as I am getting older - maybe a by-product of 'socialisation'? When I was younger I seem not to have noticed so much . . . Ah well, it's good to know that we are not alone in our struggles :)

While growing up I traveled all over Europe with my parents and sister and never batted an eyelid but now I find it hard to go to new places even in the same city or area I live in.

Welcome aboard. Hope you can find the help and community you are looking for here

Hi there. I am the mother of an 18 year old who is still awaiting a diagnosis for Aspergers.
He's got a screening at the end of this month with two pyscologist. He's always had social problems throughout his school years and was bullied too.
He's also had bouts of anxiety and panic attacks. During these past few weeks his anxiety and panic attacks have escalated to the stage were if I nip out he's ringing me to come home.
He constantly thinks there is something wrong with his heart and feels it every few minutes to see if is still beating.
It's so upsetting seeing him in this state. We are back at the doctors tomoro to see how he's doing on his medication. Personally I don't feel it's helping. He's on propranolol three times a day and has been for over four weeks now.
I hope you find some kind of help soon. Kath.

The concept of having more trouble as we grow older came up recently in another new member's intro thread. I feel that way too. Maybe we can do some research on it and see if we come up with any answers.

Welcome to the forum!

Thank you Cali cat. When a diagnosis is made for for people with Autism/Aspergers, is there ongoing help for them ?

I have propanolo 40mg up to three times a day but I don't find it does an awful lot and it as some side effects associated with men and blood pressure. I'm 29 at the end of the month and still looking for answers.
