Hey everyone,

Just want to give a quick overview of some changes and additions to AspiesCentral.com. Last Update: 10 June 2010.

What's New

The What's New feature lists all posts and new threads since your last visit to the forums. It is very useful and worth checking out.

Who's Online addition.

The Who's Online box at the bottom will now display members that have posted within the last 24 hours.

Main Page addition.

The main page (homepage) of the forums will now display the total number of threads and posts for each forum.

Member Photo Albums.

Member photo albums (click here) are fully active. Members may upload photos with a maximum width/height of 1000x1000 pixels. The maximum file size for each photo is a generous 1 megabyte. You can see my photo album here. Members have full control over their photo albums and can adjust privacy settings to suit their needs. Members may use their photo albums for whatever they like.

Post and Thread Attachments.

Members may now attach JPEG, PNG and GIF images to posts/threads without the need to upload to a separate image host. Word and Text documents may also be attached at this time. When making a thread or post, simply scroll down the page and click on the "Manage Attachments" button. Once you have uploaded an attachment, use the attachment button to add it to your post, as shown below.

Member Blogs.

For those who aren't currently aware, all members of AspiesCentral.com get a free blog. Members may use this blog for whatever they like and entries do not necessarily have to be related to AS/Autism. To manage your blog, click here.

Member Profiles and Social Networking.

All registered members of AspiesCentral.com automatically get their own profile page. Unlike many forums, this profile page is actually worth using. It is also integrated with your photo albums and blog. In the future we aim to add even more features to profiles. To edit your profile page, click here. To upload a profile photo, click here.

Newly added profile fields include: Gender, Diagnoses Status, Favourite TV Shows, Favourite Books and Favourite Quotes.

If any members have a request for a particular profile field, then put them in this thread and we will consider.

User Status

A Facebook-like user status system has now been added. Statuses show up beside each post and are archived on the user's profile. See the screen shots below for more details.

Shout Box

A shout box has now been added to the forums to give members a quick way of communicating between each other whilst logged in. The shout box will also alert members to new posts and threads. Currently the shout box only displays on the forums list and view thread pages. Update: The old shout box has been removed and a better one installed. The shout box now displays on the main page. The font size of all shouts can be adjusted as shown in the screen shot below.

Hiding the Shout Box and Side Bar

The shout box and side bar can now be hid by clicking the small arrow icons as shown in the screen shot below.

Welcome Block

A welcome block has now been added to the forums home page. This block will display some useful stats and links, including the number of unread PMs and the number of new posts since last visit. Update: This feature has now been removed.

Icons

The icons on the forum home page have been changed.

I think that's all for now. As always, feedback and ideas are welcome.

would like the ability to disable the floating bar that appears on every page with your name and notifications on its I dislike it a lot. other than that I like everything else except that the site doesn't like mylaptop but may need to clean cache and cookies for that to be solved

Possibly removal of these emoticons because I feel they make the board seem kind of not that welcoming or nice if these or here even though not in the main box:
:randygit: and :adminpower:

Thats the 2 i feel is either disgusting or horrid

theres another few i dislike but they are still alright i feel for forums but these to I do not especialy that 1 is hitler giving the finger and the other is basicly sex.

I think we can also try to add more emotions that are fun and cool.

I like this though: :adminpower:

Do you think some jewish people would like it though?

and the fact that he is swearing doesn't seem needed as swearing randomly like that does not seem appropriate for any occasion.

Hmm... I didn't see that emoticon as being Hitler, but now you mention it, I do see the resemblance. As for the other, it was also part of a smiley pack that I uploaded. I did take out quite a few unsuitable ones.

With regards to the floating bar, that won't be removed as it contains important links that most members wouldn't be able to find who are not fourm savvy.

Thank goodness! I feel fortunate that the 'Hitler' emotion is removed. Phew!

I never realized there were so many emoticons. I only find them annoying when people use them instead of letters.
