Just wanted to say hi again. I've not been on here since before Covid, so hi again to the long tenure members, and hi for the first time to newer members. Names Jeff, 41 years old, divorced and now long term dating someone who believes she is also on the spectrum (can almost guarantee she is). Relationships become increasingly difficult for me.
I remain undiagnosed but 100% positive I'm an Aspie. My lack of DX has to do with poor resources from health insurance/costs, and the medical professionals I have seen not being specialized in Autism and shrugging it off when I mention it. Ive gotten Bipolar 1 and c-ptsd diagnosis but find them secondary, but also true.
Like many around here I believe I fall into the adult higher-IQ and physically capable blind-spot for professionals. I figured out how to function and mask well enough (from observation and study of people) that they dont believe me (granted they dont specalize in ASD), and when I was a kid (80s/90s) there was no chance of DX for such a child. I'm sure many around here understand. Your whole life you're "weird" and "different," getting completely exhausted from trying to fit into societal norms, but the moment Autism comes up, suddenly you appear "too normal."
Hope you're all doing well.
