My aunt belongs in my state’s civil commitment center for severe sexual offenders.

I'm sorry I said it that way. This thread is very triggering for me. I admit that.

I think it's best if you do move away from those horrible people. As soon as possible.
 
So I have updated my resume today. My family is telling me I will not find another boss that is as good to me as my current one - they want me to remain in a horrible situation because if I ever gain confidence and independence, it will prove to the world that they were always wrong about me all along.
 
I have learned that even most people in supposed support circles IRL do not want to me to indicate whenever I am feeling depressed or low energy. I am learning that most of the world expects me to wear a high energy mask and a smile at all time. I shall provide that to the world, then - I can always be honest about how I feel when I get home.
 
That is pretty much the way of the world, you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. People always respond better to a happy smiley face no matter what you feel inside.
