Low Latent Inhibition or Sensory Disorder?

It came to my attention that I may have LLI if it really exists. A therapist I had of old discussed this with me. I do have many of the traits. She said many auties have it. Does anyone here have it? It can account for the need for routine and stimuli overload.

I always can tell if people are faking even if I cannot tell their real thoughts and intentions. People are too complex for anyone to know another. Before all the trauma I endured, I would trace thoughts so far back it was ridiculous.

I wish I had a friend to hone this skill with. If anyone has LLI please PM me.

Yes it does exist.

I have never heard of it before, so curiousity got me and the first thing that came to my mind is: sherlock holmes, or better still, the creator of him.

I cannot say whether I have it or not. I do notice little things, which I find actually can be really annoying sometimes, but I do not go further with that and think why, where etc etc.

So, according to what I read: you not only notice a change, but you go further and wonder why they changed and etc etc?

Anyway, that is what I read on it, but perhaps you could enlighten me on the proper definition, if I have it incorrect?

I was not familiar with the term.

"With low latent inhibition, an individual almost treats familiar stimuli in the same manner as they would new stimuli. Think of the details you notice when you see something new for the first time and how it grabs your attention. From those details all kinds of questions may arise in your mind. 'What is that, what does it do, why is it there, what does it mean, how can it be utilized' and so on."

Fascinating.

I have struggled my entire life to describe exactly this phenomenon to others.

It has served me uniquely well, in many ways, but perhaps been a detriment when dealing with others.

I cannot always tell.
If a person "builds a logical construct" in their mind which "explains" their reasoning,
whether I am aware of it or not, I can be fooled.
Often, closer inspection reveals the deception, especially if I am able to ask questions--- exactly the circumstance that hucksters, grifters, and charlatans avoid.

Often, if one is being deceived, it is for the material benefit of the deceiver, and so, time is often removed from the equation.
"I've gotta have it now, and I have to get there with it right away!"

LLI would seem to explain my success in my career as a construction electrician and maintenance technician.
I have routinely been able to diagnose and repair pieces of equipment that were "written off" as unfixable--- due to the ability to observe complex systems with a mix of LLI and the ability to combine complex sets of disparate and contrasting parameters.
Where an interplay of hydraulic, electronic, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, etc. sensors and actuators work in harmony? to achieve a desired result.
Most are unable to make the crudest associations with such systems, let alone diagnose and repair them.

When asked how, I've been forced to adopt
"It's what I do." as an explanation of my abilities.

This is much food for thought, and yet, another template by which I understand myself better.
