Well, so to start, I'm 21 years old and from the Netherlands.

I got diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome half a year ago because I got into a psychiatrists office for depression and it made a lot of things about myself a lot clearer.

My biggest hobby is riding motorcycle and apart from that I spend a lot of time on YouTube and if I can get the mental energy needed I draw or play guitar.

I study for nurse, which also caused some issues that really fit with my diagnosis, I really love doing it but it brings a lot of stress and problems along to it.

For a year and almost three months now I have a girlfriend, which is an amazing support for me. A lot of friends didn't believe my diagnosis at first but she bought me a giant book by Tony Attwood just to help me.

Special interests... Hard to say actually, I know a lot about ww2 era tanks and I'm a bit of a vacuum cleaner for random facts...

I probably missed some things but that might be for the best (otherwise I'll still be blabbering on for an hour or so)
 
Hello! I wish a could ride a motorbike, but I would definitely crash a lot!!

The trick is to just stay calm and pretend like nobody ever sees you. I rather have people complain that I'm slow than to be splattered across the front of another vehicle, making acquaintance with all the bugs...

It's a lot of fun and everybody needs a little danger in life to keep it fun I suppose xD
 
Hi there I found out about a year ago by going to see a psychologist about anxiety and trauma issues I was having and she was the one who told me.i hope this forum can help you:)

RD - welcome & good to see another motorcyclist here & good to hear you ride safely. I've ridden bikes for a long time and always keep in mind that there are 'bold riders' & 'old riders' but NO 'old bold riders':)

Yep, think stuff like that is amazing, he also had a flak88 on a trailer and some other things that weren't really specified

I wish I had the money or the space to keep something like that in the house :3

Mayor of the town stated that he apparently used it 30 odd years ago during a snowstorm to tow vehicles out of the snow and personally I think that's epic xD
 
Hi there RidingDutchman A really warm welcome to AspieCentral :) The Tony Atwood book you mention, is it his Complete Guide To Asperger's Syndrome one? I ask because I'm reading it here too & learning about aspects of my autism which I was unaware of before. It's a fantastic book & I think it's really great that someone close to you gave you that gift because an understanding & accommodation of our AS is a really important step in managing our lives. What a great friend! Enjoy Central! :)

Yep, the complete guide one. Was a big read but really helpful, it's much clearer as all the things you find on the internet.

Talking about internet, even though many people hate on it I still think the Wikipedia page is one of the best sources if you want to have a general idea about it...

I believe knowledge = power & AS knowledge = self-empowerment because it cuts us some slack & maybe lets us be a bit kinder on ourselves & then hopefully, other people too :)

What that book says about anger management & AS people having a scale 2-10 dial of escalation as compared with a non-AS 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10 dial was revelation to me because anger issues featured a lot in my life previously.

Sounds familiar here too. I don't really have anger issues as it takes a lot of effort to get me out of "2" but when I do get mad it's a switch and suddenly you can't get me to do anything.
I'm happy that I just get angry in words and the actions I take are ignoring people and doing the exact opposite as people want me to, but I don't get physical in any way.

I'm glad my parents finally understand that when I'm mad I just need some time and space before having a talk about it, that small revelation saved so much stress
