Jim Butcher discussion

Anyone here besides me a fan of Jim Butcher’s novels? I became a fan of his works after reading the first Dresden Files volume, Storm Front, a few years ago and have currently read up to the fourteenth entry in the series. In addition, I’ve read some of the comics of said series, the first short story collection, and all six volumes of Butcher’s completed series called the Codex Alera. I might like them even more than the Dresden Files.

Love Dresden Files (novels)! - and urban fantasy, in general.

Have you read The Laundry Files, by Stross? If you like Butcher, you might like these as well.

S. Andrew Swann and Patricia Briggs make good urban fantasy as well.

I have not read those. I am open to reading them, though.

I would play a Dresden Files video game if one was made. It would need to be made by the right people, of course.

I'm going to add the series you mention, Codes Alera, to my reading list.

Sounds like fun.

The The Laundry Files is Lovecraftian, if you like that. The series goes progressively off the rails. I have no idea what's going to go on in the next installment :) .

You should definitely read them. It has a unique take on fantasy with the ‘Lost Roman Legion’ angle and I found the main protagonist’s struggles analogous with autism.

I like Lovecraft’s fiction so I would most likely enjoy the Laundry Files.
