I was told I need to do "networking"...

I told the OP years ago we have a large immigrant population, thier biggest issue was how to land a good job with no Canadian experience. one of them over head me talking one day. I knew how to untie the gordian knot as I was helping a Russian women I told them how to do it before you know it 20 of the masked me to help them, they had degrees from their home countries which was not recognized wow did the plan work they were stunned they all feel they owe me almost thirty years latter. Life changing I hope they passed it forward. Just had to break the log jam. easy puzzle for me. A few night school courses.
 
Consider starting a linkedIn profile and look for things to say positive things about and people to connect with that way to start maybe.
