I Need Immediate Advice From People Familiar With College Admissions

I am a wee bit in over my head.

I have been a homeschool parent for the past twelve years, now my daughter is applying to college, and as a home educator, they want me to submit a transcript for her by Monday.

My educational philosophy hasn't included traditional grading. It's all about information assimilated. I ask her to dig deep into her texts, learning everything she can. Because this is her education and her future, not mine. If she gets a wrong answer, I make her go back and study more, then try to fix it until she gets the answer right.

There is no chance for an A-F. It's literally been "On your own, study and master this bit of information, and then move on to the next. If you have questions, I am here." I am very firm with that, because she's an Aspie with above average intellect, and quite capable of doing it. To me, education is about learning, not regurgitating facts, and she enjoys that type of challenging, self-led learning style.

So, basically I have a list of every textbook we've used since she was in oh.. 7th or 8th grade. I'm thinking I can type out an essay on my educational philosophy, and how rigorous her education has been.

So how am I to do that? I've never done something like this before. What format should I use? How can I be most persuasive? What is a university looking for?

I'm inclined to agree that it may be best to prepare and submit a copy of your syllabus / course outlines (texts, time spent, learning objectives) with an explanation that you have determined that she had met the requirements.

I never really liked the concept of grading since in most subjects, it is rather subjective.

Does she have a G.E.D.?

No. The State of Oregon allows parents to issue diplomas. She will graduate, probably early, by next June.

Thanks everyone, I think I've got it. @Judge , I went down a rabbit hole thanks to your website suggestion and I think I've got it figured out now.

I found this website today and it really helps. It says you type out the name of each class and then in another cell write a short summary of what the student learned and did to achieve completion of that class.

I would then put .5 credits for half a year or 1 full credit for a full year course.

Due to the school closures during Covid lockdowns, a lot of colleges and universities are not requiring the SAT/ACT through 2022 or 2023. So we just decided to skip the stress.

I did it! And it was all sent off in time to get ready for Trick or Treating too!

I created a high school transcript, official booklist, educational philosophy statement, and a letter of recommendation! Phew!
