Hyperacusis- I think its driving me a little crazy

Maybe this will help someone, Chance commented about noise canceling hearing aids and how expensive they are. I don't know how this product compares for expense (they aren't cheap $2-300), but maybe an alternative?

QuietOn Active Noise Cancelling Earplugs

These are tunable with both constant noise and impact noise cancelling:
Etymotic HD-15™ High-Definition Electronic Ear Plugs - Ear Plugs for Dentists & Hygienists

That second website has tons of products for noise canceling and hearing protection, including custom molded products.

I'm there now... I have to figure something out. I cant live "knocked out" just because I cant stand my hearing.

Thank you... I had looked into this before but never found anything I could adjust... that also might might help a lot, because its certain "freakquencies" that are messing with me so bad... I was drowning it out with music, but I think I am actually damaging my hearing worse by doing that. Doc is mad at me for doing that, but offers nothing but pills and pills suck.

I will get back with you... this may just help for now at least... REAL HAPPY FACE : )

I'm on a website Wight sent me... I found this and could resist...
This is my kind of dog...

these are still in funding... I was thinking no way???

Bose noise cancelling headphones exist, are extremely effective, and get rave reviews from others with hyperacusis. Only problem is that they are expensive, so something to save for, perhaps.

I find my sensory sensitivities ease when I’m getting “sensory”— like, OT.... mean8ng, swinging (very hard, vigorously) on a swing set for 15-20 minutes each day, or jogging, or swimming at the Y, or very fast power walking. It isn’t about exercise, rather about the types of physical sensory input my brain needs to better self-regulate. Sounds, smells, and even glare seems more tolerable with enough regular sensory activity.

I hope you find a solution which helps you!

I got an email into the company Wight sent me to see which one of their products might work best for 24/7 situation and not show too much maybe...

I'm not always the optimist but I do try and hunt down stuff that works... My last endeavor into this was a big hole in my wallet and mostly nothing happened... So we will skip the "specialist" for now and just try it this way... My issue last time was my insurance wouldn't pick up their horrendous bills...

ASD is to me a mass of stuff not even experts can agree on...
I sometimes think they have made the "spectrum" so wide that no one can really make heads or tales of much of it.

Its obvious the standards of diagnosis are a nightmare and a lot of it seems to be more about a money train than to help those in serious need.

As for my ASD - I'm good. I function okay on my own, even excel in a few areas, and I don't need or want outside help. My hearing has always been my "Achilles heel" so to speak and at times it seems worse and it actually scares me.

It's not that I can't hear... I actually wish I was deaf sometimes...

Not many people even understand it, or me for having it. People simply cant comprehend that it can hurt to hear...

I found this video and its really close to what is like. So, if a person says it hurts to hear... This might help explain some of what they cant really explain.

I have this bad and on top of it, the thing where the last thing I hear gets stuck in my brain. So I might hear a song for two days because some jackass at the store thought we need to hear their vapid, vacuous drivel. Try CBD oil to calm you down. SAM-e helps, too. I use indutrail level earplugs but I hurt my ear by having to shove them in so far down because those guys at the gym keep thinking people like their annoying crap.

Best thing to do is at night, go outside. You said you live far away from anything. That is GREAT! Go outside, lay on the earth , and give yourself 1/2 hour away. But it is probably too cold.

Absorb yourself in movie, too. All I can say is earplugs. Earplugs UNDER the ones that go over the head for shooting. That can mitigate it. You can still hear, believe it or now. But it helps.

I am shooting for genetic modification which you can now get. That is what I am going to do as soon as I can figure out more about which genes and so forth. There is a guy in the States who has kits. So doing it. Da** the consequences. I have been a slave to my DNA long enough. BYE BYE abberrant POS DNA. BYE BYE

Mouldable silicone earplugs on eBay I paid £16 for them couldn't hear high-pitched noises it was a relief

I think I got cured of hyperacusis when I was 18 and I got front-seat tickets to a Black Sabbath concert. I stood right in front of the left stacks for 3 hours.

Dude I would have to be placed in an insane ward... no way...

I actually "feel" the sounds even in my jaws and teeth... Its hard to explain, but that would probably be like you standing beside me stabbing me in the ear with an ice pick...

The low frequency sounds, some even at high volumes are okay most the time, but certain mid range and high range are like a knife in my head... A sudden slam, or a plate being dropped... geez, and its not over when its over... it last for a while and severe Tinnitus mixed all in this stuff...

I get pretty growley and upset and people don't understand, and I try to understand they they don't understand, but it dosen't fix anything. : )
