How does it feel to be a Aspie?

I guess I've been an "Aspie" (Sorry folks but I find that term rather offensive) all my life but I wasn't diagnosed till October 1999 at the age of 23 years and 6 and half months old, and I'm 40 tomorrow.
 
How can I know what it's like to be an aspie, if I never been an NT before. That's like asking a man, what it's like to be a man, if he's never experienced what it's like being in a woman's body before. How can I tell you what something is like, if I know no different?
 
Maybe it relates more to our experiences with others than purely our self-perception. How our lives/interactions differ from those of others we have observed...
