I'm Becky and I joined to talk to and get to know others with AS so I don't feel so strange and alone :) I don't think I've ever met anyone else with AS in person nor personally talked to another at all, apart from my mother.

I'm 22, a student from the UK and have only recently been diagnosed. It's a relief in a way to find out about AS - I've always known there was something 'unusual' about me and I've been struggling so much with university-related stuff lately (mainly socialising, practical classes, as well as independent learning) that I was unbearably miserable and had to find out what the issue was. My boyfriend's a psychologist so luckily he was able to point me in the right direction and help me out!

So, hi!

Hello, Becky! You sound a lot like I did a while back---in the middle of college, confused, and miserable.

Finding out I had Asperger's helped me recover from the severe depressive episode I had then. I was able to stop blaming myself for years of mistakes, and for losses that I thought were my fault. I think talking to other people on the spectrum really made a difference. I don't know where I'd be without the support I've gotten from others.

Welcome!

Hi Becky and welcome to Aspie Central, you will find plenty of people to talk to and get help as and when you need it.

Hi Becky :D

I too could relate to how you feel, while I was at uni. I didn't figure it out til years later, but now that I have, and have met so many online, who are so like me, I now feel liberated, and at peace with myself. I hope you feel as comfortable here as I do.

Ps. You're so lucky to have such a supportive boyfriend!

Hey and nice to meet you! :) Great to see another UK south coaster. This forum is a great place to be
