Hi there!

Hi! I guess I'll introduce myself. I'm a 25-year-old guy from The Netherlands and recently discovered I'm probably an aspie. Even though I can act "normal" I've always felt like an outsider, wondering why some things come so easily to others while I struggle with them, but also the other way round. I've always had to reign myself in, so to speak, because I can go on talking about my favourite music or bit of history or politics for hours on end, whereas others are usually... not thát much into it, haha.

So because of feeling like living on a separate island compared to most other people, and because of some social anxiety issues, I developed a depression and went to see a new psychologist who told me she's fairly certain I'm an aspie, and she thinks it might be good for me to get diagnosed.

And ever since she's told me this, slowly but surely the world around me is finally starting to make sense a bit. It feels good to know that there is an explanation for the feeling I've had my entire life of being just a bit "off" compared to most other people.

So... excuse the long rant, I guess I needed to get it out!

Sounds like you've come to the right place to explore whether you are on the spectrum of autism.

Welcome to AC.

I nearly 2 years after diagnosis and it's still taking along time to sink in.

Hi & Welcome,
Yes that initial realization - all the confusing pieces suddenly coming together is quite a revelation.
