Hello!

VintageKitty

Raging Autist
Hi! I am FantaOpossum, but you can just call me Opossum (or Fanta) as a moniker.
I enjoy a variety of things, such as:
  • Writing - mainly historical fiction. (This is my main special interest.)
  • Early to mid 20th century history, especially the 1950s
  • Old video games
  • Media Analysis
  • Animals
I am on this forum to make friends who are also on the autism spectrum, as I don't have many people I actively talk to on a regular basis outside of my boyfriend and, like, two other people. I also want to contribute to the discussion surrounding autism, and I feel being in a community for it is the best way to go about it.

I was diagnosed at a young age - I think when I was three? - and have been living with my Asperger's Syndrome ever since. I also have ADHD and depression, so that's been more of a challenge to live with than anything, at least when all of this is combined with college and a job.

Welcome!

Early post-WWII North America was a very interesting time and place. A prosperous time that also heralded the rise of automotive culture and suburbia.

Aha! It's not often I meet someone else who has this particular interest.

Certainly the same for me, I'm a huge fan of retro games.

uh, I dont know what to say beyond that. Welcome though.

That’s awesome to hear! I’m a little worried we might not be referring to the same era of games, though, cause when I said that I had games like The Sims 2 and Toontown in mind and I’m not sure if that counts as retro, at least when compared to something like the original Mario and Zelda games.
I like hearing about the history of video games though, it’s very interesting.

Thank you! I agree, it was a very interesting time period. I’m still learning about it, so I can’t exactly hold an extended conversation about it, unfortunately. I’m willing to learn, though!

Honestly at this point my definition of "retro" stretches all over the place. Could be anywhere from a PS2 game, to freaking Pong.

Welcome! :)

I also like games, not sure if retro or not. Mostly fantasy.

Currently playing Blood Bowl 1 on Steam on Autis... emm Single mode.

I also like History, mostly before gunpower, but not as a special interest. Just casual reading.

I think is great that you like writting, I like reading. :)

Greetings from GG

I'm old enough to have played the originals of retro PC games, anyone remember Monkey Iceland or Digger. Wolfstein, Doom, Myst, Duke Nukem (2d scroll). I never had a game console.
Nowdays I play Minecraft, Space Engineers, 7 days to die. All in aspie mode, I guess I'm into crafting survival exploration with a side order of carnage :D
I'm into coop if its non-greafing
