Hello! I could not find much understanding so I am seeking some out

Hello! My name is Petal. I was diagnosed with moderate (level 2) autism at the age of 14. It has been some time since then but I don't have a place to feel understood so I decided to look for one. Internet forums work best for me as the go at a better pace for me so I am glad I found one.

I am currently figuring myself out all over again. Even though people said autism since I was a toddler they instead labed me with everything else they could. So I am confused to how things fit but I know I also have SPD and DCD and dyscalculia/dysgraphia and ADHD. I feel like I am floating in the middle sometimes as I didn't get diagnosed until a bit later with autism but I have been in therapies and special schools almost my whole life. So not much has changed in that regard since 14 and I feel misunderstood. I am hoping to find people to talk to and have people who can at least accept my experience if not understand it.

Music is my life...sadly I don't have the coordination to play any but I listen to tons of it. I also collect squishmallows. It's good to meet you all.

Welcome!!! Glad to have you here. There are a lot of personalities and experiences on here. I think you'll be able to relate to us in some ways :). I didn't find out I was autistic until I was 23.

I see we chare diagnosis as well ;)

Welcome Petals!
I wasn't diagnosed until I was 58 and I don't feel much different from age 14 either!
I must have music playing almost constantly. Have been like that since a baby.

Welcome to autismforums.com, Petal. Cool name.

Like the other comments, I am glad that you have found this place and this group of people.

Your experience will be bitter and sweet just like life is. I am confident that the sweetness will out weigh the bitter by far.

Again, welcome.

It's hard to explain to people that I dislike silence since all of the noise that is within "silence" (there is still a noise even if it's just the sound of the fan) is still super annoying. I like noise I can control I can turn it up or down I can't do that for the world.

I can understand that point very well

For me i guess i was born with this hate silence as i always have and always will
