Getting Official Aspergers diagnosis a pain.

I just got back from my first visit to getting my official diagnosis for Aspergers trying to get SSi and for mental health purposes and it has been a pain because I found out I have to make another trip and is nine months away and likely wont be diagnosed in time for court for my SSi total wait for it at least two years maybe more I live in Missouri anyone else had trouble with this? Also it seems to me kinda pointless for a 2nd trip seems they could have it done in one trip if they get all the info beforehand they need.
 
I live in France ( from the uk) and have an appointment for the first week of January to see a psychiatrist, but in the hope of being officialised as social anxiety. I am hoping though, that, as long as we can communicate somewhat ( she is French), that she will be clued into aspergers and get a sense of it from me.

Since my husband phoned just last week and have an appointment in January, I guess that means it is faster in France. But the do not recognise aspergers as real, so at least I hope to get a diagnosis of social anxiety.

I wanted 3 years just to get seenBut ones I got that first appointment it took about 2 months for my next one but got a diagnoses of autism so I thought that was not to bad as I waited so long to get see.i was told I need well I thing it is counselling but for people on the Spectrum and I been waiting about 3 and a half years and do not think I will get it any time soon
 
I live in the US and I did not have any trouble at all getting diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (DSM IV 299.80). However this was 9 years ago, using the DSM-4 criteria. Getting a diagnosis using the DSM-5 criteria seems to be a lot harder. I believe when the DSM-5 changes were drawn up, the changes were not in the patients best interests. It looks to me like there were financial and political interests that made it harder to get a diagnosis so that those who pay for benefits, do not have to pay as much. At least that is how it looks to me. Comments ?
