frustration and "special interests"?

Are you saying that a special interests is something asocial (that could become something social in future)?
I mean, a person could find people ith the same interests but the goal with the interests was never to become social?

To most people, Barbie & GI Joe are toys, playthings. To this 59yo grandpa, they are scale figures (at least, with some modification).

Geographically, I am an anomaly. The internet has helped me find like-minded collectors. It is a provisional means of socialization (much like an autistic forum is for autistics). Instead of small-talk, we do show & tell, with a friendly degree of one-upmanship.

Diorama is a big focus, but there are many, like me, who use them as lay figures for drawing. With my face-blindness, this is especially true of their heads.
