Sorry if my explanations are disjointed or incomplete, I seem to do that.
I tend toward TMI. It's an Aspy thing. I have to watch myself or I spew out more words and ideas than others want to hear in a single serving.
Around here we strive to give the most helpful responses - not just say the first flippant thing that pops into our head. So we need more information (and will ask for it) to make sure we understand the question before formulating an answer.
Most people outside this forum don't realize that autistic people have a whole spectrum. On TV, autistic people are portrayed as being either extremely smart or extremely stupid, because TV executives think extremes are more dramatic. In real life (IRL) everyone is a whole unique person regardless of which labels society affixes. There's a saying on this forum. If you've met one autistic person, then you've met one autistic person. Some people who insult us don't actualy mean to be mean, they just don't know any better. Most people are ethnocentric in that they assume everybody thinks the way they do and behaves a certain way for the same reasons they would. The old guy and the new guy you encountered have obviously not met many, if any, adults with Asperger's, nor has either ever attempted to do any research on the subject. The first guy limited his study to antiquated protocols for children with low IQs. Their methods are valid to them and/or anyone else who realizes that their job is to help parents play the blame game, which is literally what the parents are paying them a boatload of money to do. You need to hire someone who genuinely believes the job is to help the patient and his family.
