Well, for me any of my achievements have also been of detriment.
However, at the age of 45 and thinking I was the bees knees (small minded I was) I thought I could surely be a counsellor to those that struggle, I mean if I am still standing then anyone can do it right?!
Well, during two years studying the humanistic approach at college, I kind of found that I am no-where near normal. I learnt how to learn.
I discovered a lot of my feelings, I figured a lot of my thoughts. I learnt to listen and read between the lines. I managed to learn 'tricks' to help me explain and express myself. I passed.
Then I got passed the word 'aspergers'. Hmmm this makes sense as to all the coincidences and how everything in my life is linked. It also explains why I've been a total people pleaser and a walk over.
BUT I have demanded a referral for a diagnosis. And I do hope to get a place at university to study the humanistic (person centred therapy) approach.
