Do you start from the end?

Hey everyone

I was just reading something online, and realised a strange habit I have, and wondered if anyone else does it, or if it's just me being odd, haha.

I do this weird thing, where I like to start from the end. For example, when reading a list, I go to the end of a list, and read it from bottom to top. I do this for other things too, like magazines; I flick through recipe magazines from the back cover, to front. Sometimes I do this with photo albums, take away menus, or sometimes even when I'm not even reading the book, I'll just flick through any book, mindlessly, while thinking about other things; I just like flicking them the wrong way.

I don't do this all the time, it's not a compulsion, but occasionally, for no reason at all, like to start at the end.

Yep, guilty as charged. Im not sure why I do it ,but I thinks its because, I dont like investing to much time in the unknown, so I skip to the end. Along with the fact I dont like surprises.

Yes. Mazes and magazines, primarily. My dad used to do the same. I'll usually reverse-flip books with art in them, menus, even several-page documents like bank statements or bills. Sometimes stacks of things like photos or game cards. Not so much books, comic books, or lists, though.

I try to leave stories (film, books) relatively unspoiled, but Turk, I'm otherwise with you on the "no surprises" thing.

Yes, I used to look at catalogs back to front and comics like The Dandy or Dennis The Menis too but I can't remember when I stopped doing it.

I totally forgot that I did this thanks for reminding me.

My mother always looked at magazines from back to front and so do I. I don't recall ever consciously doing it to imitate her. It just feels easier for me (I am right handed) to page backwards with my right hand.

I don't do that, but I do only read books that do not require me to read in order, such as short stories, Jack Kerowac or the bible. I can just pick it up, open to any page, get my fill of reading in without having missed anything necessary and put it down when I am done with no responsibility to keep track.

I guess I never thought about it but I do that with books and magazines. I would do that with mazes when I was a kid but was always scolded because they said it was cheating.

When I was in college, I found the absolute best way to proofread my papers for spelling and grammar issues was to read them backwards.

I used to do the same with mazes from time to time. That's an intersting note with the spelling and grammar; I can actually understand why that would work. I will have to give it a try one day
