There are uneducated hicks amongst us. But, as they say, stupidity is not an excuseIt's All Real, Galaxy Quest (1999)
That scene from Galaxy Quest (1999) seemed funny juxtaposed against the previous post. There are uneducated hicks amongst us. But, as they say, stupidity is not an excuse
If we ask AI or even HI about how to deal fairly with other countries and act on it, the need for military hardware could swiftly fade away.My Meta AI assistant on messenger said As robotics and AI advance, the military might need to adapt and develop countermeasures to address potential threats. It's a complex issue, balancing the benefits of AI and robotics in defense with the risks of escalation and loss of control
The intersection of AI, robotics, and military applications is a pressing concern, with implications for global security and stability
It all depends on who trains the AI. If trained by military or politicians, "fairly" becomes moot. There is a good possibility that there will be no need for military hardware because there will not be enough people left for military hardware, except perhaps locally. If we ask AI or even HI about how to deal fairly with other countries and act on it, the need for military hardware could swiftly fade away.
E scooters have been in the news again, warning parents not to buy their kids them due to the dangers, here's the LinkA lot of people I know, I have overheard talking and now this news story, e-bike scooter batteries exploding and causing housefires, such a shame if anyone was to die as a result of one of these housefires or a pet or pets! here is a link to the story
It's got to the point here where we're now banning the import of a lot of e-bikes and scooters that are simply overpowered.E scooters have been in the news again, warning parents not to buy their kids them due to the dangers, here's the Link
I am surprised that in 2025 that they are still having issues with some of these batteries. Laptop batteries now-a-days don't even get warm, let alone hot anymore. All the automotive batteries have changed their chemistries, as well. It's got to the point here where we're now banning the import of a lot of e-bikes and scooters that are simply overpowered.
The rule change that could stop 'overpowered' e-bikes being brought into Australia
Now that we've developed Sodium Ion batteries the future of Lithium batteries is very limited here, they'll likely start getting phased out within the next 5 years. We're the world's largest exporter of Lithium and we'll still keep shipping it to other countries but it's too dangerous for us to keep using it ourselves.
They're not so common in the news here any more but we do get regular reports on statistics from our emergency responders. At least in the US... battery fires don't make the news cycle anymore.
I discovered that I prefer stereo to 5.1 back when surround systems became very trendy. The soundstage that can be created by well mastered CD etc can be very three dimensional. I had a surround system at the time (about 20 years ago) and I became frustrated by the poor dialogue mixing in movies, which seems to be entirely due because of this silly idea that dialogue only goes in the center channel. It ends up being over powered by everything else. A good stereo set up with HiFi speakers can sound excellent and cinematic.Right now I am finding it a bit annoying to discover that I prefer my 28-year old Sony 2-channel receiver and 3-way tower speakers (front) over my 15-year old Sony 5.1 multiplex receiver.
