I'm Lee.
I was diagnosed in July 2018 after my missus thought I might be on the spectrum through living with me.
Did a few online QA tests which provided more potential evidence that I shared with my GP.
My GP sent me to an psychological assessment.
I was then sent to a further assessment, after which I received my diagnosis.
I'm not actively social irl due to bad experiences throughout my life with friendship, the workplace and being raised in a fundamentalist christian environment by parents who I strongly suspect have mental health issues and who turned out to be judgemental hypocrites.
My Autistic traits are:
Sci-Fi TV - I know far too much about The Expanse, Star Trek, Stargate, Babylon 5, etc
Petting random cats on the street (not sure if this is truly related to my condition but I don't see anyone acting like this - I even have a Google Photos album that I show to willing parties)
Listen exclusively to very specific forms of underground dance music (Trance and Progressive House)
Triggered by perceived negative / toxic behaviours / environments and have a very low tolerance of them, especially in the workplace
Science / psychology - I guess in a bid to understand how people like my parents are created and to understand how reality actually works in contrast to supernatural belief systems
Technology - even at the age of 5 or so I was fascinated by digital watches and scientific calculators but a few years later got into and became obsessed with PCs and video games and always wanted to work it that sector. I've been working in various IT support roles over the past 2 decades and spend lot of my free time playing video games or fiddling with various bits of tech (computers, smartphones, networking hardware, basically computer nerd stuff)
Had a very turbulent youth and a very adversarial relationship with my parents (mostly my mum, who given my observations, I strongly suspect is also on the spectrum), to a point where I was temporarily fostered twice.
Was kicked out of two schools for my constant meltdowns caused by bullying and was very adversarial toward staff. I'd get into fights with kids all the time, teachers would frustrate me to a point where aggressive verbal exchanges would take place or I'd end up throwing chairs at them.
I assumed this was related to my home environment as I left at 17 and I began to chill but have suffered major issues at work and with friends/family since.
Sleep disruption - never have an unbroken nights sleep and will often wake up on multiple occasions, usually firstly around 0330 then every hour or so until I get up at about 0700.
I'm just looking to learn about others experiences with Autism really in order to learn more about it.
