Dating a Neurotypical?

I think I want to date a neurotypical but I'm nervous. I know some aspies but they just aren't my type. I think I'll just tell them I have vertigo (true) and tell them for that reason I don't like noise. If things go well after a few dates maybe I'll tell them the truth. I wouldn't want to tell them right away and have them make assumptions about me. Does this sound like a good plan?

Sounds OK to me! At least you aren't concealing dangerous things from a potential date, like being a heavy drug user or an alcoholic. I have read in some self help books that it's better to introduce things about yourself gradually to a new person, in order to give them enough time to decide how they feel about you. When I started dating my husband though, he already knew that I was on the Spectrum and that I had Fibromyalgia so the hard part was already taken care of, LOL.

Hey Butterfly88.

I think dating in general can be nerve-wracking, so you're definitely not alone in feeling this. As for disclosing your AS/condition later on, then that sounds like a good plan since you would want them to learn more about you, your quirks etc. through the dates and conversations before putting a label to it. In addition, I think that informing him/her about your noise sensitivities and vertigo at the beginning would be helpful as it'll help tailor your dates to settings that would be comfortable for the both of you. Hope that helps.
