I love the chickpea vindaloo from a local joint I go to.
 
I have tried India curry, and it's very good. More familiar with red and green curry from Thailand .

I've enjoyed chicken curry a few times in restaurants over the years. Though I don't see "time warp" on this Curry poll. Pity....but I didn't see Tim in the video either. My bad! ;)


Shoutout to @Metalhead for creating this poll. Allowed me to troubleshoot and fix my computer speakers. Seems the right channel was dropping in volume. Re-connected them and now the Rocky Horror Picture Show sounds just about right, thankyouverymuch!

When I visited Thailand a few years ago, I took cooking lessons and one dish I made was Panang Curry. I was taught to start with the ingredients and use a mortar and pestle to grind the powder. Phew! It was a lot of work.

It was during the trip that I had an extremely fiery curry. A woman and her husband was showing me around. I went to visit since I helped her with logistics on a COVID site for professionals. They made it clear that we were going to eat like natives. They took me to Kanchanaburi and one evening we were at a restaurant overlooking the River Kwai (with a view of the bridge) and they ordered wild boar in red curry for us. I've never tried a ghost pepper, but that curry was painful and at my limit. That hot and it seems to overrun the other flavors, but it was delicious.
 
When I was a kid my mother always used to put a few sultanas in the curry (English curry) but that's disgusting, it's like having pineapple on a pizza. I like a flavourful curry, it doesn't have to be overly hot, just tasty. Something that makes you break out in a sweat after 3 bites but doesn't burn out the taste buds. A slow burner, not a ring burner.

Is curry always hot? I don't much care for foods that make my tongue sting.

You can make it as hot or as mild as you like.

Mustard by itself is also not hot, but add the tiniest bit of black pepper to it and it becomes extremely hot, it accentuates pepper flavours.

My mom always put a spoon of mango chutney in her curry dish, says it adds to the complexity.
 
Speaking from before my stomach problems started:

I’m a vegan and Indian curries are my favorite. I definitely like spicy food (although I’ve heard that real authentic spicy Indian food is sort of extreme), and medium and milder curries can be good, too, if they’re at least flavorful. I’d be willing to try different kinds of curries.
 
Goulash, I think was originally using curry as in old days it was main spice available to gaulish tribes. But notable is difference between goulash and lamb masala!
Oddly, mince samoosas are western influence unless made with lamb mince since cow is sacred in India. Mostly today the samoosas at Indian shops use soya alternative (which I can't handle soya)

I mix lentils and mung beans for my goulash (dish was to compensate for high price of meat during the world war, but somehow translated to influence of vegetarians coming from Europe) mostly known as those influenced by the North Indian style of vegetarian cooking which TT O'Day now places Thai veg dishes on menu!
