Communication, why I suck.

Voltaic

Darth Binks is real.
I posted this because I think it might apply for some of you, and gives some food for thought.

NT's use of sub communication is something I am illiterate at. I describe sub communication as communication that is told and read that is not specificly vocalized. A sentence can have many diffrent meanings if different body languages and tones of voice are used. This in interactions with real people, I have noticed that they hide these subcomunication in subtlety or downright lie.
Not being able to read it means that I can find myself in situations where the people I am interacting with are being aggressive, and I don't even know it. Not knowing causes anxiety, I can only guess, so it is a hit or miss if I act accordingly if they are being aggressive.
Speaking as I do, I can't control what I am expressing using subcomunication. Everything I express is directly communicated through words. But through the wordchoice I use, the tone a the body language, others might interpret the comment as rude, or something I don't mean.

I'm from the north-east of England and some members on the forum have communicated that I am aggressive and I didn't realise it was aggression it's just part of British English and how we communicate it so I don't think it's just neuro typicals I still can't interpret other peoples body language it's something I've got to come to terms with that I am high functioning autism partly

Not being too far away from you geographicallly - i would say rhe north east - very aggressive is just normal for everybody.

When let out into the world i didnt realise that people could actually speak nicely to each other.

I guess i was copying the north east aggression of my childhood - and people were taking it as such without me realising.

Do you remember the quote about Billy Connolly's daughter daddy why is everybody shouting or angry commenting on the Glaswegian attitude

I had to look up: sub communication and still can't quite grasp what it is about.

I both take people at face value and don't; it depends on their further responses I think.

I come from the middlesex (middle saxion) area of London and am told I do not have an accent. I speak similar to how the Queen speaks and am often laughed at for my delicate way of saying things.

I have never found you aggressive, Streetwise. You come across as very kind and thoughtful.

People take things I say as blunt and rude, when I was (to my mind) just stating something, with no intention of anything behind it.

my wife had regularly told me she is surprised that i haven't gotten punched yet
my dad has told me he is surprised my wife hasn't punched me yet
i do tend to be a bit blunt
:-)

The thing about NT communication, is that what they call subtext IS the text. Everything that is important to them is communicated nonverbally, leaving words for things like the weather, that they don't care about.

This is why, when they ask what you what you did over the weekend, you want to reply in two sentences or less. It isn't communication - just social interaction.

The trouble is, that what you can communicate nonverbally, is basically the same thing that chimpanzees communicate with signs and grunts.

I prefer communicating on a higher level than monkey grunts.

same, it's really annoying when people think im angry merely for thinking about the issue wand what to say while processing and analyzing. Then they say im angry and im actually from the stand point of logic...

I have a really tough time reading peoples body language, or even worse, I miss guess it and then I'm either upset, or confused, not even sure what to do...

If people are talking in a normal manner (say a business setting) I usually do real well, its when people are off in group or clicks... I don't even know how to explain it, because I apparently don't have whatever that is in me to understand it. I feel like some freak that shouldn't be there, so I usually try and find my way out quickly.

I hate when people are doing innuendos, or telling jokes... I often just want to go hide because I want to to "get it" but often don't... its awful.

And people wonder why I just don't ever say much at all.

A note of encouragement in ultraOrthodox Judaism people on the autism spectrum are considered to be higher than angels
