Call centre work advice please

It's really great how they are being so accommodating at work and making the effort to help. I've always wondered how on Earth people in call centres can have conversations on the phone with all the other conversations going on around them, especially when often only one ear is covered, but hopefully noise-cancelling headphones should deal with this.

I had a noise cancelling headsets and they're pretty good though when it got loud around me I still ended up pressing them into my ears with my hands to block out the noise... Which makes using the computer a challenge!
Far better than a one ear headset though. I used to keep sticking my finger in my ear with those which means using the PC one handed anyway ;)
