Boardgames

im really into board games (mainly euro games), i literally play 10 plus hours on average in a week and im just wondering if anyone else here loves board games as much as me, i find it very entertaining and aspie friendly and im wondering if any other aspies have found this great hobby which is sensible and logical which allows for easy aspie friendly socialisation. any questions on board games feel free to ask, and id love to talk about them.

if only I had others interested in it in my area, I might actually get more involved in boardgames. I used to play a lot of boardgames when I was younger and liked it a lot, but as I got older and my circle of friends got smaller, it decreased.

I'm still a tabletop gamer (warmachine and to a lesser degree Warhammer 40k) and trading cardgamer (Magic: the gathering) though, which, I find is usually easier to find people for, but a different "culture" alltogether when it comes to non-digital games

that's a shame, really good for aspies i go to two different clubs in the week to play and to friends to play as well (the advantages of living in a big city), i used to play a lot of warhammer but stopped due to the high cost, i play MTG as well.

there's actually been a bit of an explosion in board games recently partly down to people wanting something different from digital video games and wanting a more analogue social gaming experience. it is a different culture for board games but in my experience most people who like board games like videogames, not everyone who likes videogames like board games though.

wish you luck in gaming more if you so wish to do that.

Oh, I share that sentiment about warhammer being expensive... it's partially why I moved over to Warmachine, which costs roughly the same per model, yet, due to rules accomodating a skirmish type game more, and needing less models, it's not as crazy expensive. I'm lucky an aspie friend of mine was easy to convince to make the transition into warmachine as well. I don't live in a big city, relatively speaking, and the cities that are big in the area actually have warhammer gaming nights (or even a local Games workshop store) and barely any support for other tabletop games.

The one boardgame I used to play regularly with girlfriends when I was dating was Trivial pursuit, which seemed to be straight forward enough and not cater to a specific "style" other than being a quiz of sorts.

What's your favorite? Or favorites for that matter?

well im a bit hard-core of a board gamer so my faviroute games are German euro games (generally by far the worlds best)
i love war of the ring a massive many hour lord of the rings board game (not the war-game though there is one of those called war of the ring too), i love twilight struggle (cold war politics the game), stone age, quantum, lords of water deep, android netrunner, wiz war, disk world. to be honest ill play anything and i do i literally play hundreds of board games in a year so picking out faviroutes is difficult, i think its easier to pick out a faviroute genre of games i.e. euro games and two player asymmetrical strategy games. i have transitioned over to star wars x wing miniatures and dystopian wars (steampunk ships) as cheaper war gaming alternatives though i know there are other good ones to try,

There many board games I like. The top ones on my list is Stratego, Monopoly and Cashflow.

I do miss playing the game Cashflow. I use to play in a group when I was living in Toronto. Cashflow is somewhat like Monopoly but more advanced. The purpose is to make at lot of investments and get out of the rat race and make a passive income. I think I might like the game a lot since I own a business.

I did play Warhammer 40k before. It a fun game but I know I would't have the patience to paint all the figures.

interesting i play a lot more modern games than that but i know some people who are really into those sorts of games and on occasion ill join in. if you like economic games there's a lot of good ones to try like Puerto Rico, power grid, Brass and age of industry.

From all those listed, a fair amount ring a bell. Netrunner seems to be fairly popular I've understood. Living card games actually sound a lot of fun, especially since they don't have that financial aspect games like MTG have going on.

X-wing actually is another game I've been looking into, but I'm not sure. Dystopian wars, I played a few times with a friend of mine (have a few pictures of my fleet up on my gallery on this forum (at least, if I remember correctly). Those ships are pretty awesome overall and a nice break to paint from regular infantry 28mm figures.

yeah being British i obviously went for the kingdom of Britannia and though there submarines are cool i find their torpedoes woefully inadequate, what happened to "rule britannia britannia rules the waves" our navy should be the best (only joking around). x wing is good and affordable it really captures dogfighting well. android netrunner is fun but very complex, living card games can be cheaper but it depends the main thing is that it gets rid of chance with boosters which is nice and creates a more even playing field but you still have to buy a few sets to have a competitive deck (that being said it depends on the competitiveness of your opponents if they have similar low level decks to you then its fair and really fun).

I watching a YouTube video of the game and it looks like a game that would interest me a lot. Thanks for the recommendation.

I don't actually play the guitar, I just picked this picture because I love the sound of the acoustic guitar. I can play the clarinet, though not very well.
