Being obsessed with mundane things

I have this fabulous cooker which is sort of built in and at a decent level and I am obsessed with keeping it clean, to the extent that someone came over to share a meal and exclaimed saying: wow I have never seen a used oven THAT CLEAN before and I admit I was preening lol

Now the snag is this: the only way to keep it as clean as it is, is to use a wire ball which has not scratched anything at all, but my husband is CONVINCED that the opposite applies and has BANNED me from using this wire wool, which means I have no choice but to actually use it when he is at work, because seriously, he actually does get very angry at the thought and that was me getting him to use his hand across the area that I had scrubbed, to show that it doesn't effect it!

Well, I made some chicken kieves (butter, garlic and parsley inside) and it made a horrible mess in the oven, but my husband was sitting right next to it and thus, I had no choice but leave it like that! I reconciled to myself that he is off to work the next morning and so, I can clean it, but oh heck, he decided to not go and so, honestly I was in TORTURE and really did not want to even look inside the oven. I actually felt sick to the heart, because I really am so meticulous at keeping it clean. Well, he had a nap and oh dear, I got my soft cloth out and put the wire wool underneath and the music drained out the rough sound and did I breath a sigh of relief, to see my oven, once again, beautifully clean?!

The thing is that he compliments the oven on how clean it is and I am thinking: this is so ironic because if he just knew what I used lol

Is anyone else like this? And no, not like my husband hehehehe

I never knew anything about cleaning and oven, I was shocked when my dad showed me the top of the stove came up, oh gawd what was under it... x.x

I had to give up on keeping our kitchen any sorts of clean for the most part though, my dude is a awesome cook but trashes the kitchen everytime, he can't clean dishes as he goes, he just can't, but his food is awesome so I guess that's the trade-off. But sometimes wow I miss actually being able to go to the sink and my insides not cringing from the aftermath, lol. If we ever get a house I swear we'll have two kitchens, his "art's and science kitchen" (as I call it when he cooks lol) and my "casual use" kitchen. :P One of my aunts has two kitchens... *b*st*rds* I never a considered a house having two kitchens before but now it's on my *need* list of we ever move lol (she has an indoor pool too though, what's up with that!?)

Try green Scotch Brite pads, those scrub as well as wire wool but are made of nylon so they don't scratch even non stick pans. That should satisfy both of you.

Sadly it won't, Beverly! The mind can be very closed and as far as my husband is concerned anything that is harsh looking, is a no, no and actually, my oven is not non stick! It is just completely smooth and when I slide my hand across, there is not a single scratch mark, despite the harshness of the product! My oven is one of the newest on the market and I just love it lol

Maybe something like this it doesn't look scratchy?

I agree with the wire wool scrubbing ball - I use one of those too because I like to have my pots and pans scrubbed clean - I hate it if there is any gunge on them. However, there are some surfaces which can be damaged by wire wool like enamel, and it's not a good idea to use it on those.
