Aspie at 14 in High School

Hey, as the title says, I'm an aspie who, according to many neurotypicals, "suffers" from autism, I don't think I suffer from autism, I suffer from neurotypicals being jerks(sometimes when it is not even real, merely percieved) and basically I spend my days playing neurotypical and I honestly at this point hate playing neurotypical, but if I stop, I'm screwed(People paying attention to me and bugging me and such). So, yea. Being an aspie whilst being forced to deal with society is sucky(as I assume most of you know)

Welcome aboard :) I hope you enjoy this website and it's community. Best wishes.

I know right! It sucks that we are just expected to conform. When I'm at school the pupils just call me retarded and laugh at me when I'm struggling. I will be stimming or having a sensory overload and all people can see is that I look funny or am being distracting rather than that I'm in distress. I am doing an assembly for my whole year group next week about autism awareness month and I'm going to tell them that I have been diagnosed. I am very scared because I feel like the outcome will either be entirely positive or entirely negative. Hopefully it will take the pressure off to act neurotypical though.

Welcome :)

I (and many others here) do not feel that we 'suffer' from ASD. I would not be the same person that I am without Asperger's. I tend to look at it more as a gift, as there are talents that I have thanks to AS. Yes, I also have issues (terrible at eye contact, social awkwardness etc) but I still wouldn't want to be NT.

Welcome to AC! :) Yup, it sure does suck to have to act NT all the time and get ridiculed if you don't, but luckily this is the one place we can all be ourselves.

Yeah I agree like some days it gets me down that I'm different to a lot of other people that I am around all of the time, but when I feel like that I ask myself whether I would choose to trade off my ASD because I know that the answer to that is hell nah!
