Any song lyrics that stick in your mind and speak deeply to you?

As the title says, are there any song lyrics from any song, by any artist, that stick in your mind and speak deeply to you?

For me it is:

"I went to god just to see, and I was looking at me, saw heaven and hell were lies"

The title of the song is "The Reflecting God", and it is off of the 1996 "Antichrist Superstar" album by Marilyn Manson.

This speaks to me deeply and forms the basis of my life philosophy and motivation, that I am responsible for myself, to myself, to live and enjoy life for myself, and that if I want to achieve something, I have to put in the steps to do it. Not surprisingly that is also a core aspect of Satanism, which 'Manson was heavily influenced by, especially at the time, so that creeping into this music is not surprising. Recently keeping that principle in mind, I have went form being obese, pre-diabetic, to just slightly overweight, and able to run a 5k in under a half hour - improving my health and life for the better.

What about you?

From our era? I have more than 2 decades of meaningful songs stuck in my head.

If I had to pick one this would be it. Although I never had a problem with drug addiction, when I was a teenager learning to take responsibility for my own life and for the world I lived in was a difficult lesson.

I didn't know that song existed, but I do appreciate classic rock, like 'Zepplin, so thanks for brining it to my attention, it is indeed a killer song, with an important message to it.

"Is the trouble and strife
We find in this life
Really worthwhile after all..."

From "Let the Rest of the World Go By"

"Doubt me (doubt me) - Hate me (hate me) - You're all the inspiration that I need."

Hatebreed - *Facing What Consumes You*

"I have my books and my poetry to protect me, I am shielded in my armor.
Hiding in my room, safe within my womb, I touch no one and no one touches me."

Simon and Garfunkle - I am a Rock

Come on, you target for faraway laughter - Pink Floyd poking fun at ex-bandmate Cyd Barrett in "Shine on, you crazy diamond"

Itchy feet and fading smiles - Pink Floyd

I walked to the edge and I stood and looked down. You know I lost a lot of friends there, baby. Got no time to mess around - Van Halen

The entire monologue at the end of the song Hi Ren by UK (Welsh) artist Ren.

Ren contracted lyme disease at an early age which went undiagnosed/misdiagnosed. This ended up in complications to his physical health, and a complete breakdown of his mental health. The song itself is a back and forth between the hopeful side and the dark pessimistic side. It's a conversation going back and forth.

Ending monologue from the song Hi Ren

"As I got older, I realised that there were no real winners
And there were no real losers in physiological warfare
But there were victims and there were students
It wasn't David versus Goliath, it was a pendulum
Eternally swayin' from the dark to the light
And the more intensely that the light shone, the darker the shadow it cast
It was never really a battle for me to win, it was an eternal dance
And like a dance, the more rigid I became, the harder it got
The more I cursed my clumsy footsteps, the more I struggled
So I got older and I learned to relax
And I learned to soften and that dance got easier
It is this eternal dance that separates human beings
From angels, from demons, from gods
And I must not forget, we must not forget
That we are human beings"

Two songs that have always had personal meaning to me were Come Sail Away-Styx and now that I am older
Dream On- Aerosmith.
I always sing along with them.

Many years ago, there was a very tall cedar tree in a wilderness park that could be seen across the bay. It stood out from the other trees. One day I decided to find that tree and went to the park. I was the only person there and followed a path I thought would never end until I found the tree. I was happily singing Come Sail Away as I explored.

Now I cannot walk more than a few yards with a cane. Today I sat by a forested pond drinking lemonade in my car.
A flock of Ibis and a black Muscovy duck were beside the car. I could only watch. I wanted to walk the path into the park. The song that speaks to me now is:

Funny they're both about journeying beyond here.

“I’m just a soul whose intentions are good.
Oh Lord, please don’t let me be misunderstood.”

(I prefer the cover by the Animals more than the original by Nina Simone.)

Needless to say, this speaks so strongly to me because of the many times it’s failed me.

“I see your true colors
And that’s why I love you
So don’t be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors are beautiful
Like a rainbow”
