I watched a documentary about them several years ago. In Mexico, the hairless Xolo dogs are used to heal elders with arthritis. The dogs' skin get very hot in the Mexican sunshine. The puppies are traditionally laid on the joints of elders, to soothe their arthritic pains.

It was very sweet to see puppies laid on the hands of a woman with rheumatoid arthritis. They are trained to sit there very still, so that Nana can reduce inflamation in her joints.
