Utah, Dixie Forest
As a little kid, when people would mention "Dixie", Before I knew about The Deep South, I thought they were talking about this area off Interstate 15, in Utah.
Coincidentally, there was also a town called "Hurricane" in the Utah desert, and a lake called Dixie Springs. You can imagine my confusion when I learned in elementary school about hurricanes being over the ocean.

Yes, all the photos I post are my own. (With the exception of two posts - Uppsala and the Warrumbungles - where I borrowed photos of places I had visited but had lost my own photos.) These photos were from my first trip to Morocco - I spent a weekend relaxing in Tangier in the middle of a couple of weeks of research meetings and conferences in Europe. I returned years later for another holiday three weeks after I retired. Most of the other photos of locations in Morocco that I have posted were from the second trip.

Balboa Theatre, San Diego, California. Built in 1924 for silent movies and vaudeville shows, it was soon upgraded for talkies, becoming a venue for Spanish-language films. During WWII, the Navy used it for housing. After a thirty-year struggle, advocates for its restoration won out, and it re-opened for concerts and live theatre in 2008.
I hope that you don't mind me adding another photo, to show everyone how big this statue is. With the pedestal, it's 124 feet (38 meters) tall, and it can be seen from nearly every area of Rio de Janeiro.
Darwin, the capital and largest city (albeit with just 140,000 inhabitants) of the Northern Territory, Australia. Founded in 1869 as Palmerston after the late British Prime Minister, its name was changed in 1911 to Darwin, the name given many decades earlier to its port.
At age 97, and 63 years since becoming a co-awardee of the Nobel Prize, James Watson is still with us. He sold the medal at auction in 2014; the buyer, Russia's richest man, then generously returned it to Watson.

A crazy coincidence happened today: Before last night, I'd never heard of the Balboa Theatre. Since a couple of entries in a row were theaters, I decided to continue the chain, so I searched for famous theaters in order to find a "B".
Now, while watching a TV show (The Streets of San Francisco, "Crossfire"), mention was made of Balboa Park, which is a few blocks away from the theater, and which I'd also never heard of.
