1 fun thing I did today

Jammed with a friend playing my new Warwick 6 string fretless bass. Oh yeah. Got a drummer coming to jam next week so we are preparing, practicing. Hired the large jam room. SO EXCITING.

Nerdy info for those who are interested. The bass is a 6 string fretless Warwick Pro-built corvette special. Made in germany. It has extra options with gold plated hardware, bubinga tuners and an unlined fretless fingerboard. They are commonly used in hard rock and heavy metal bands. It’s well known for a deep growl and snarl on the fretless. It came from Germany then to Portland Oregon then to Melbourne Australia. They are rare. I was super happy to get it.

I went for blood cupping. Most people won't consider that fun, because of the needles and blood but it getting rid of all that stagnant blood helps my insides function better.
 
I decided I want to play a hurdy gurdy.

They are very complex, and the cheap ones (below $1500) are considered unusable junk. The exception is the "Nerdy Gurdy" (from NL) which is highly recommended, and comes as a kit, so I bought one (around $500).

To paraphrase Donovan "Its then that the hurdy gurdy thing comes singing songs of love."

 
They are interesting instruments. I learned of their existence only within the past couple of years or so.

Years and years ago, at a folk festival, I heard a hurdy gurdy player that rocked my socks off. I couldn’t listen enough. He was playing with a group of musicians and I remember nothing about the others.

Go for it and let it soar!

Music was my fun thing today, too. Just easy picking and singing.

Bet that sounds great! Is that a Thumb bass? My biggest country bass hero Glenn Worf plays one also in a 6 string fretless.

Only time I’ve seen a Hurdy Gurdy was an Arcade Fire concert on PBS. Went digging online because I had to know what it was.
 
So anyway my fun thing today. Had to go to town, and it actually hit 70f today. So I went to the park. Closest thing I was gonna get to a sunset. Lots of downed and messed up trees from the recent ice storm. But the Michigan shaped tree (center) survived without incident.

Started bringing the plants outside, and filled a tank for the water lilies (I got a note from a supplier that my lotus is on the way).
