    My cats chewed through the cord to my computer mouse. Do make sure kitty does not bite anything powered or he won't like the shock.

    That's good advice @Gerontius :-) I'm lucky he doesn't seem interested in biting the cables. He likes to bat them around. Laptop chargers definitely produce enough current they can cause a shock. USB used to be less of a worry but with Power Delivery they are also a risk these days. Fortunately when it comes to cats safety, I'm basically in a mild state of panic constantly so it keeps me sharp 😸

    Argh! That's enough Amazon for one lifetime. They make communication with customer service virtually impossible. And I never liked their attitude towards their employees. 😾 I will need to de-Amazon my Fire tablet too. Hopefully there's some guides online.

    They certainly don't make things easy @FayetheAspie I felt like I was going round in circles and after an hour of that my patience was definitely wearing thin. I finally got my refund but it was a gift card so I have to spend it there lol! I'm going to get something appropriate like headache meds! 😸

    Well I'm going to see some kittens tomorrow :-) I may adopt one. I miss my cat of course, but I think I need a cat in my life again and maybe my cat wouldn't want me to feel like I was being disloyal to him :-) Fingers crossed I will return home tomorrow with a healthy, happy kitten :-)

    Some states swear that it's keeping the roads safer, my state reckons it's just a money making rort. Police here can and will pull you over if they think your car looks unroadworthy, bald tyres, lights or indicators not working, etc. They can defect your car and put it off the road until you get it fixed.

    Good question. These policies have been in place for more than 40 years now so there should be enough data, but where you'd find that I have no idea. SA has no roadworthy checking. Vic requires a full check at every vehicle transfer of ownership but no checking after that. The Northern Territory has mandatory checks every year. I'm not sure about other states.

    I suppose technically its not an "instant" photo in the usual sense as you take photos and then choose which ones you want to develop. Kinda like a Polaroid with training wheels :-)

    I got some posh colour pencils 😸 They are apparently some of the best you can get. As soon as things are less busy I'm going to really take them for a spin!

    When in a psychiatric hospital, I enjoyed drawing with colored pencils. Though it probably does have a therapeutic effect on me, I can't get myself to "waste time" like that on the outside. Instead, I watch YouTube and play games on my phone all day and night.

    I think drawing/coloring can be therapeutic. I also feel a bit like I should be doing laundry or vacuuming instead but I'm going to make a real effort to spend some time drawing and give myself permission to "waste some time" :-) Besides these pencils cost £30 so I had better make good use of them lol! 😸

    "Fun" times messing with my dads car to get it fixed for its MOT/inspection. Two brake tubes had to be replaced and the new leadlamp unit was defective. I haven't flared brake lines in so long! I started to think maybe it had become a thing of the past. My flaring kit was covered in dust and rust and I'm sure spirits flew out of the box when I opened it! 😸

    They are pretty easy once you've had a bit of practice. Half the challenge is making the right kind of flare for the unions. Some need simple bubble flares, some need double flares. The most challenging thing with this car is getting the air out of the system. I ordered a special scanner tool so I can make certain its done properly. You never want to take chances with brakes.

    Lol! @Aspychata I've never seen that movie but I'm pretty sure its the one where the car keeps coming back every time the guy gets rid of it. Someone I worked with used to joke that my car had a similar influence over me. They told me I should watch it but I still haven't gotten round to it 😸

    Just as you can bring a horse to water, you can tell people not to put dish soap in their car screen wash, but you can never get them to refrain from it. 😐

    I'm playing South of Midnight! :-) Its really good so far! It's kept me playing for about an hour so that's something of a record :-)

    Well that was fun! I've been twirling through the air casting spells and making friends with a giant catfish (the fish type not the MTV type 😸) The game is kinda like the Prince of Persia Sands of Time dynamic but much prettier and interesting! :-) If you have an Xbox you should definitely give it a try :-)

    I just completed Mullet Madjack on Challenge difficulty yesterday. I doubt I will ever get the achievement for completing that on Hard. I will try South of Midnight in the near future. I also recommend A Plague Tale Requiem on Game Pass.

    Well done! I just don't have the skills beyond button mashing for that Mullet Madjack game. Its pretty good if I want to kill a bit of time and laugh at how clumsy I am though lol! I've heard of A Plague Tale, I think its also on game pass. I might have to play it after South of Midnight. I was a bit worried about the stop motion aesthetic but actually on a real console it works great! :-)

    I remembered that you can preinstall games on my Xbox so I'm downloading South of Midnight ready for April 8th 😺 I think I should probably think of upgrading the built in storage, I had to delete some stuff, but its so expensive to buy the special SSDs 🙄

    Ok I'm watching the trailer for it on game pass. I guess its not too violent. At least its just robots i guess. There's a car that kinda looks like my car in there too but with some sort of crazy supercharger sticking out of it 😸

    I think there may be a video game I'm looking forward to at long last! South of Midnight! It looks quite whimsical and gentle. It will be available on game pass on the 8th of April so I'm looking forward to that :-)

    It is not nearly as complex as something like Baldur's Gate. But it is a massive time sink. And cash sink if you want to get all the DLC. Get a second mortgage and quit your job, then join me.

    My raspberry Pi adblocker died. I had to set it all up again on a new SD card. Its up and running again but as usually Raspberry Pis are a constant source of frustration. Hopefully it won't go down for another 4 years lol! :-)

    I kinda want a Polaroid instant camera. But damn! The film is expensive! 8 exposures for like £13!? But the cameras look so funky and I like the idea of committing to a shot and the analogue aesthetic. There's other instant cameras but I don't find them as appealing. Wonder if there's generic film for Polaroids?

    Film is far better for black and white photography, it always seems much sharper and better defined that a desaturated colour photo. But these days that's a niche art market and not cheap.

    Yeah, the original Polaroid went bankrupt and some enthusiasts bought up some of the machines that produced the film and eventually managed to get the brand back. They were initially known as the Impossible Project. I had no idea that the world of Polaroid photography was so complicated lol! :-)

    I kinda like the way Polaroid photos make everything look like it came from the 70s/80s I do have a couple of film cameras. One has an unfinished roll of film and assuming its still viable, it should have a few pictures of my cat on it from 8-9 years ago. I really should get it developed.

    I'm starting to de-google my devices. I'm a bit annoyed with some of Google's recent decisions and I think a bit of a recalibration of my digital dependencies is in order. I'm using an open source keyboard on my phone to type this and so far it seems pretty good :-)

    A big part of Google's business model is to sell advertisements and to do that they need to track users. They were caught tracking users a while back, even those users that had switched off all tracking features on the user end. I believe they received a large fine for doing so.

    Have you tried using an alternative OS such as /e/OS or GrapheneOS? They only work with certain phone models, but can be an option for properly getting rid of Android (most Android versions are proprietary Google flavoured platforms).

    Yup. To be fair I had always suspected that they were doing that regardless of what options I had set. I have heard of GrapheneOS but I'm going to try that on my old phone maybe to see how well it works before I jump in with my other devices :-)

    I got a new tablet and stylus for Christmas. I'm finding my way with it using Medibang to draw. I have been drawing a picture of my cat. I think it's been going quite well. I haven't finished the background, but I'm quite pleased with how he looks. Miss him so much.

    I have bought some small sketch books so I can also get used to "analogue" drawing again. After a very unpleasant experience with an art teacher when I was younger, I didn't draw anything at all for 20 years or so. Drawing on a tablet kinda got me interested again so hopefully I will get back into the habit again :-)

    @Judge A stylus definitely feels more natural but it also kinda takes a bit of getting used to. Some don't provide "palm rejection" so you can't rest your hand like you can when drawing on paper. You also may not have features like "tilting" and "pressure sensitivity". You can get some pretty good USB drawing tablets quite cheap though so might be worth a try :-)

    I feel so sad 😿 Last Saturday evening, I had to say goodbye to my sweet, wonderful cat. It was the most distressing and traumatic thing I've had to do in such a long time. We had just shy of 18 years together and I love him deeply. I miss him so much and it's been such a shock. I miss him following me around all the time and the cuddles. He was so beautiful.

    Thank you @Rodafina he definitely was and will always be my good good friend. I woke up today and it felt like he was waiting on the bed next to me. Thanks to everyone for your kind posts. I hope everyone will give their pets and loved ones an extra nice hug today.
