    Asbestos Concern

I'm sure this was true until the 80s/90s but I'm fairly sure that other materials are used now for clutches/brake pads? There's a warning in the Haynes manual for my car but in a later revision, (that unfortunately I don't own a copy of any more) the warning was amended. The new version added...

It's the Eddy Current Phenomenon. Magnets aren't attracted to copper as it doesn't have ferrous particles, but copper does influence the magnetic field. If you drop a magnet through a copper pipe it will actually slow down as it passes through too :-)

    Dysautonomia? What on earth?

I'm sorry you are dealing with this on top of everything else. I think if you are experiencing all or most of the symptoms in the charts you should talk to your doctor and bring the charts with you. Maybe keep a diary or set of notes with times and duration of the symptoms you experience and...

    Asbestos Concern

The issue with asbestos is that it can travel deep into your lungs and take decades to cause asbestosis, which is the end stages of the process where the asbestos destroys the lung tissue and you can no longer breathe. There are lots of cases where people have lived long healthy lives working...

I saw it on YouTube too! I had a similar idea but I was going to use Kodi and use a script to rotate different playlists. There's a couple of videos covering ways to do this. One is super simple and I'm using that for now. The other is pretty complicated but more convincing and I'm going to...

I like Time Team 🙂 I also noticed some Antiques Roadshow episodes on YouTube I thought about downloading for my TV simulator but I haven't yet. Having a good variety of shows I think is going to be important. I need to create a certain amount of scheduling that encourages passive viewing :-)

Oh cool! I should definitely add some episodes of I Dream of Jeanie and come to think of it Bewitched too! I'm enjoying the illusion that I'm tuning in to a live broadcast and I can't (easily) hop from one video to the next. It feels quite authentic and its keeping me away from YouTube etc :-)

In an effort to filter out some of the doom and gloom in the media I have been making my own 80s/90s TV simulator. Its just using some code someone else made but it has 4 Channels and is transmitted in old fashioned analogue with authentic static and commercials! I'm very much enjoying it! It...

    RIP: Robert Redford 1936-2025

He was one of those actors I had started to believe would somehow be around forever. I was reorganizing some video files the other day and I found the copy of Sneakers I had ripped from my DVD and thought I should watch it again soon. When it first came out, I was told that I should watch it as...

I figured it was likely a mouse had crawled in there. I checked as much of the wiring as I could and it seems fine as everything is working as it should. As whimsical as it would be to have a car that shoots plooms of popcorn out of the exhaust, I'm glad I found the problem before any real...

My dad decided to buy a second car. He was a bit concerned that it seemed a bit lacking in power and couldn't make it up hills, so he asked me to check it. After looking at a couple of things I decided to check the air filter, and when I opened it there was enough corn kernels in there to supply...

PC Optical Drives: Gone With The Wind

I'm glad I mostly use MacOS! I do have an install of Windows 10 on my MacBook on a small partition, mainly for stuff that isn't possible via Wine or PlayOnMac. Actually that reminds me, my cat walked across the keyboard while in Windows the other day and Windows is stuck on a black screen...

PC Optical Drives: Gone With The Wind

I found it maybe 17-18 years ago as scary as that seems! I needed something to transcode some video I had captured on my G4 Mac mini using my Sony mini DV camcorder which had a secret menu on it to enable video pass through via its composite/RF socket. It was my cheap student money saving hack...
