  • I found a shop with experience in a specific kind of typewriter--so I can get my '36 Noiseless Portable going, hopefully.
Somehow I broke the return handle.
Going to do something very silly today--Don't mind me. Going to try for my commercial learners permit.

Are you talking about truck driving? Let us know how it goes.
    Gerontius
    Gerontius
@FayetheAspie yes, it is for truck driving. And I passed! Now to enroll in a technical school and get the practice needed to be able to test again and actually get the CDL. I was taking the test for CDL-A, interstate commerce, combination vehicles (trailers), with air brakes.
Tonight was the first time I've ever gone and played Dungeons & Dragons. Honestly? Fun game. Reminds me of the old-time radio play combined with improv. theater and video-gaming. Really enjoyed it, would play again!

Which version? I'm no D&D expert, but I know each version has a different set of rules.

@tkcartoonist Oh I have no idea! It was a one-shot campaign I do know that much. Played as Lv1 barbarian, human actually, background of a scribe who eventually let the intrusive thoughts win & took up life of a barbarian. Kind of fun.
I found this song on line and am trying to find more songs in this new genre. Was kind of fun! Usually all I get to listen to is older stuff so this is a bit new.
This weekend was a good weekend for a beer or two and a smoke and a relaxing time at home.

It sounds like a tough life but someone has to live it. :)

    I'm doing much the same.
I would like to get a straight answer on how much of C-PTSD is autism, how much autism is C-PTSD, and how much they can overlap. Something isn't right. Was chatting with a girl and she said that it sounds like you have nerve damage. Boy I sure wonder where that's from--how'd I get neurological issues? I'm only 26!

My last 2 therapists suggested mine was C-PTSD and not autism. Personally, after giving up on getting an NHS diagnosis, and being unlikely to ever want to spend over £1000 on a private one - I figure I'll return to EMDR therapy when I can next afford it, as that's very effective RE: trauma.
Haven't been on as much due to various offline preoccupations and such, but I'm fine, hope all you are the same.
    It is good here.
    E-mailed therapist.

    Therapist telephoned back.

Looking to set up some sort of appointment:

It was not easy for me. My friend had to televideo me and fill out forums and call them constantly, it took much work to get me a therapist.

Most things worth doing aren't easy. So why should I be scared?
Found some tiny house blueprints at the library! Why does every one have a proper bed when you could do a foldout canvas one? You're better served with a nice Morris chair and a newspaper, than a bed--a hammock works for sleeping.
Moving into my "spare bedroom"/current home office so my actual bedroom, much larger, can be an office space for college. I don't need all this.
Last night I dreamt I beat up a fellow who accused me of being gay. The fight scene in the dream went from one of those where you can't feel yourself throwing a punch to a very realistic one. Then at the end the fellow blurts out "I'm sorry" to which I replied "hi, sorry, I'm gay."

To complicate further I don't actually think I'm gay, it was just a crazy dream building up to a dad joke.

Do people still use "you're gay" as an insult?

    That's so cute.

There's probably more of "you're so gay"; the insult is about the person "acting" gay, not so much an accusation of being gay. That's just my take from living in a fairly anti-LGBT community.
To a cat, a good idea is climbing up the front of the radio and trying to rip the cloth out of the speakers to figure out where the voice is coming from. Thanks a lot, cats.

Every middle class household had to have a replica cathedral radio in the living room as a conversation piece. My tastes are more towards Streamline Moderne though.

@oregano that's interesting. I do have this old Majestic 50 which is an original tombstone/cathedral set. But it was only $10 so how can I pass that up. Thankfully kitty hasn't decided to eat it yet.

I have a Philco 66 in the shed awaiting repair. I bought it for $30 after finding it in a barn during an estate sale in Etna, Calif., in 2023. For that price it was too good to pass up. The Philcos of that era had all sorts of weird proprietary components under the chassis so as to force the owner to use Philco designated repair shops. Like Apple Computer and the Macintosh,.
Wanting to go to the kitchen but there is a kitten asleep on my foot, so must do so quietly not to wake her up.
Sitting at home listening to the Grand Ole Opry over the AM radio, cats are happy with their bellies full, last day of November and tomorrow is the beginning of Advent so we're on the lead up to Christmas. Not a bad thing, the holiday season.
Lying in bed right now surrounded by my "family" of pet alley cats, both of them purring loudly. Nice evening.

That sounds like heaven! Hanging out with my family of dogs is one of my favorite pastimes, too :D
Woke up this morning, wondered why my pillow was unusually warm, then touched it and it moved. Turns out a cat had gotten up on the bed and decided to watch until I woke up to feed her. Cats make weird but fun pets.

@MildredHubble I.O.U. some cat photos. My big Manx tabby is doing just fine and the little kitty I caught the other week is not so little anymore, she's growing and growing. I think she is a plain domestic tabby, not the super sharp "mackerel tabby" but a regular old cat. However, she may have long hair, as she's suspiciously fluffy for a kitten.

New kitten Margot is very soft and fluffy-looking, not the classic domestic shorthair look really. I don't know if that is a juvenile coat thing or if she's going to be a long-haired cat. Meanwhile big Manx cat Florence keeps a short, wiry double coat, like a wildcat. Not a drop of Cymric in her, I bet you. (Cymric Manx is the fluffy one.) Both cats are nice but Margot is very self centered.

They both sound beautiful 😻 It would be great to see some more pictures! Margot sounds like she's going to be long haired, she will probably be very fluffy by the sounds of it when she is fully grown. She will probably need a bit of a brush every now and then to help her maintain her coat :-)
My keys didn't work when I got home from today's job. Thankfully I keep oil and tools on the porch so I broke into my own apartment using the key as a jimmy for the broken deadbolt. Well that's dumb.

I'm trying to figure out how you did that. I'm kinda drawing a blank. But it kinda reminds me of when I got locked in a utility room at the back of a house. The only window was screwed shut. I searched around and the only thing I could find was an old spoon. I broke the handle off and used it as a screwdriver and escaped through the window 😸
