@FayetheAspie the guilty party strikes.

That looks like one of those knockoff radios that were popular in the early 90s, so I wouldn't sweat it too much. If it was an authentic depression era Philco, then yeah I'd be tearing my hair out.

@oregano it is a GE 7-4100JA, made 1980 (I think.) if you are buying a later cathedral radio it's probably the best option. I got it because I like NPR and can't get that on AM here. Currently there's a 1948 Bendix 95M4U (changer and AM/FM) console in the living room waiting on repairs and a 1931 Majestic 50 on the nightstand. Those are less interesting to kitties as the cloth isn't as textured.

And yeah as neat as a Philco 90 looks I still don't really want to pay collector prices for an AM receiver.

The replica cathedrals were made in the early 1990s. I lived through the antique radio craze of the era-I was in high school between 1989-1993-and it was pretty crazy. I had a whole bookshelf full of antique radios, but couldn't figure out how to fix them, so I (and many others) relied on the local radio fix-it guy.

I sourced my radios from local antique stores, which meant a lot of early 40s RCA Victors and such. As for the Philco cathedrals, yeah the prices were so bonkers that Thomson sold replicas under the GE label. They usually had a cassette deck in the side, lol.
